today on plantguessr we’ll be learning about the “norwegian” shrubs at 3:53. based on the appearance of these shrubs and the rocky slope habitat i would guess that this species is mankoe asparagus (Asparagus microraphis). as you may suspect, this species is a close relative of cultivated asparagus (Asparagus officinalis), though mankoe asparagus is not necessarily considered an edible plant. its main usage in lesotho and south africa is medicinal— the extracts made from this plant are traditionally used to treat venereal diseases. edit: i tried to look for common shrub species in northern norway that have a similar appearance but i really couldn’t find anything convincing. can’t defend him on this one.
