One tip is to host this separate from your application code. Otherwise if something bad happens on your application server your observability software also goes down. for small and hobby projects Grafana's free tier is actually really good, too.

For me, this is peak Fireship. I love the Code Report, but I also love learning useful things, which this stack is. Also, your use of traditional imagery that is used to describe the Trinity made my heart happy. I may need to sign up.

finally a topic I'm qualified to argue about. 4:37 You don't even need to write your own metric code for RED metrics since tempo has a built in component called metrics generator to extract that data from traces.

M is for Mimir - not Prometheus. Its a Prometheus compatible store that leverages the Prometheus TSDB internally, but still quite different from Prometheus itself
