The question is why has the U.K. fishing industry, pre-Brexit, not post-Brexit, dwindled from a thriving industry, once upon a time to 0.2% of gdp, today, which is comparable, like you say Professor Tim Wilson to the U.K. Toy market. A market the U.K. led the world once upon a time with exports from independent, british manufacturers called Triang. But the government had no interest in industry because it despised the trade unions and how much power they had over our workforce and couldn’t careless about britain losing its prestige around the globe in manufacturing because they wanted to change our economy into a service economy, predominantly for finance to make our politicians richer and more powerful while making the average Brit poorer… Also, very important! Remainers constantly babble on about Brexit failures while never mentioning the elephant in the room which is why was Brexit ‘sabotaged’ from the conservatives and now Labour? Because they are all Remainers and have done they’re best with an inept civil service to reverse Brexit. Anybody with an ounce of common sense can read the room and see that, and will never be manipulated by Remainers bias to think otherwise. 🇬🇧

0.1% of GDP about the same as the U.K. toy market

@cobbler40

It always amazes despite all the seafood around our coasts you cannot get it in our restaurants. It is all exported.

@CMI2017

After the Trump ''''deal''' Starmer is sure to demonstrate that a fish rots from the head.

@Jack-wk7yi

Amazing we have to pay a fortune for fish and seafood. Eye abroad it’s in abundance and much cheaper.

@olgacherednikova1013

Good day, Professor Wilson , I am a fan of your shot and to the point intricate analysis of the critical world matters. Thank you for the light you shine on the darker side. Honor ! It is always a pleasure to hear your insights.

@danielcarr7090

I've never once seen a fisherman who thinks that Brexit has made them wealthier. There are plenty who thought that it would, and they voted accordingly, but the reality is that it hasn't. But at least Salmon producers can now sell their wares into Europe at a cheaper rate.

@nuttall47

Aligning yourself with the inevitable loser in world geopolitics is always a bad idea.

@SC-g2b

I remember David Cameron saying this was a once in a generation vote on leaving the EU once again the people who voted to leave the the EU sold out again. If telling lies was a crime for which you would go to prison we wouldn’t have many politicians if any 🤷‍♂️

@T0NYD1CK

UK travellers who are fed up with queues should do what the experts do: get a dinghy. Not only will you be straight in but you may well be able to have a completely free holiday in your country of choice. Accommodation, food, phone and spending money all provided with priority access to health care of all kinds.

@custossecretus5737

The idea that Spanish fishing boats catch fish in our economic zone irks me, when they have so much coastline of their own.
Not mentioning the times they get done for breaking the rules.
All it does is put our fishermen/women out of business.
Which is the norm with so many WEF politicians selling this country out.

@joestarkie5597

Full of the scent of haddock priceless

@simondonohoe1221

No one who voted for Brexit understood that most fish caught in U.K waters were and are sold to Europeans. So now any fish caught in British waters by British fishermen are subject to tariffs . The effect has been to make fish caught by British trawlers more expensive than fish caught by European fishermen. Who catch the same fish in the same sea and trade in the same market. You couldn’t make this level of stupidity up !

@custossecretus5737

Under who’s national interest would an EU army serve?
Would the EU agree to retake the Falklands?
When our military is using equipment bought by the EU, then that equipment will need EU permission to be used.
The benefits of leaving the EU will not be felt as it is like being pulled away from an open manhole cover. But we haven’t left the EU have we, that manhole cover is still open and in our path.

@rebecca_noble

The EU is what DECIMATED (literally) the UK fishing industry. Tim.

@markharrison260

According to the European environmental website, only 28% of euro fish stocks are sustainably fished.

@johngodley256

There are so many unhinged comments, how did the UK get into such a state?

@GG-hu9dn

Why youth mobility ? There are many older people who want the chance to live in Europe? I didn't ask the tories to decide for me??

@songscoops4205

Sketchy leadership 👏

@DoggleBird

Starmer has a mandate to resetting the relationship. He has no mandate to hand sovereign powers to a foreign authority, whether that's in Brussels, Washington or Moscow. Sovereignty should reside exclusively with our elected representatives in Westminster.

@keithshippey230

No government can bind any laws or legislation regulations that can’t be removed by the next government
