Got the M3 and charged with level 1. Installed, on the side of the house, outside, a NEMA 14-50 box for level 2 charging. With the box outside, we had to charge outside. Cheapest way to install the NEMA 14-50 with least amount of wire. After three times having the wiring fixed on the car due to rodents eating it, I am now parking in the garage and back on level 1 charging. Working on putting a NEMA 14-50 box in the garage now.
My wife and I love the channel.

My wife just got a Y model and being a first time Tesla owner, this video has been extremely helpful. Very easy to digest and straight to the point. Thank you!

Love ๐Ÿ’• this detailed video. I watched for couple of times and got most of the information for a beginner who wants to go for Tesla home charging options. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ

@AustinsEdits

Biggest thing that made me get an EV was when I realized how viable a regular plug is. If you drive less than an average of 40-50 miles a day, a regular plug will work fine.

@DouglasBarnum

Just ordered a used model y. Iโ€™ve watched many of your videos especially your road trip ones. Thank you for all the great information!!!

@slyguyaction

We use a Tesla Wall Connector connected to a 60amp circuit. Considering the 80% rule, there's plenty of power to keep up with charging both our Model X Plaid and RWD Model 3. It's simple, effective and works flawlessly. Considering the uptick in Tesla sales I've been reading about, this is a well timed video for the new owners out there! Thanks Carmen!!

Something to know - Many states/power utilities have rebates for installing a standard charger. Also, there is a small efficiency difference between 120 and 240 volt charging. That means there is less wasted power when charging. It is not a big deal but if you plan to keep your EV for a long time, it is something to consider. Oh, and check into the different rate plans for electricity. Here, in Georgia, there is a plan that makes it stupid cheap to charge between 11pm and 7am.

I used the AC home charger for a couple of months and it wasnโ€™t enough for my needs. I live in the northeast and the cold weather does slow down charging. I travel between 30-80 miles per day. So I decided to install a level 2 charger and it was 10x faster and itโ€™s been a game changer. Was doing 1kw/h and now i get 11-12kw/h on the level 2. I pay between .07 cents to .11 cents per kwh at home. I save a lot compared to my SUV before. I love my Tesla.

@ekuche8335

got my home charger set up yesterday!

@kejianniu2994

Thanks for explaining this. Just drove home a new Model Y for my wife. Based on her driving routine I think level 1 should work.

Most dryers in the usa plug into an outlet that is 240 Volts - 30 Amps (double the regular 120V/15A lines in your house). Older houses use 3 prong, newer 4 prong. My dryer's outlet on the other side of the garage wall. I got a SplitVolt. The dryer plugs into it, and it has another outlet for the car to plug into, and then the splitvolt plugs in where the dryer used to. It auto-switches the power to the dryer when it starts, then autoswitches the power back to the car when the dryer stops. I just cut a small hole in the wall, put an RV plastic cord hatch on it, and passed a 30Amp extension cord to reach the car. It works great. If you get one, make sure to get the one with the proper plug prongs. (No affiliation to the product.) I've been using it for a year and a half.

@MarlenesWigChatStudio

Thanks for explaining the different chargers; I wish I had known. I just had the level 2 installed by the company Tesla recommended; it was $750 for the installation (I'm in Central FL).

@dontretaylor1799

You broke it down brother thank you thinking about getting a model 3 nxt month ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ

@Bblock150

I got a nema 14-50 plug in my garage but I only use it when I really need it since I have free charging at work ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

@johnreese3762

Great video, as usual!

@DougTheMedicareMan

I use the standard household charging at my house. In my 2023 M3 RWD (smallest battery pack), I get about 2% added to my pack per hour. My off peak charging is from 9pm to 9am. In those 12 hours, I gain about 24% charge for about .84 cents........

@fimparo10

Loved the video. Helped breakdown charging speeds for people who are interested or already own and are looking for faster/other options to charge their car.

Got the 220 volt hookup in my garage love it. I believe I get about 20-25 miles of charge for every hour plugged in. ๐Ÿ”Œ

@DrmanoRanja

Lots of people donโ€™t understand unless you have a all-wheel-drive Tesla a rear wheel drive will not charge at 44 mph. They are capped at 32 Ams

@Nothingmore12652

Iโ€™ve been using a 110 outlet ever since I got my Tesla for home charging with the exception supercharger while traveling I also heard that the slower the charge the better it is for the battery in the long run

@BrianBlair-sn1rm

Thanks for this video. Perfect timing!
