@granchito

i think the glitch only effects recipes that are able to be moved around in crafting, like how the chestplate can only be crafted one way, but the crafting table is 2x2, so it can go in the corners

@harsh_here5695

At least the bug made pheonix play survival at last , they nerfed the crafting table so pheonix can survive at least one night

@SemiHypercube

The other funny thing that got completely broken in this was riptide tridents, the enchantment just doesn't work anymore and if you put it in the offhand you literally throw a riptide trident

@retrobat1631

Every time I see your thumbnails I keep thinking it's a dumb Minecraft video from someone else but, a day or two later I realize you uploaded it then I watch the video. Every video man.

@MrA6060

this is our reward for all these years of steve eating the leftover crafting ingredients from making stairs and trapdoors (6 cubic meters of wood for a couple half slabs with HOLES IN THEM)

@destroyer1952

So glad they added this parity feature from bedrock to java. Been waiting for duping to be released on java for a while now.

@arssora1731

It also works if you dye a shulker box, that has items in it.
Which means infinite shulker boxes and whatever items there were in the shulker box

@SkyGravity137

Now even 'legit' survival and hardcore worlds can just spend a moment in this snapshot to dupe stuff before rolling up the current version

@BryanLu0

I suspect this has to do with crafting recipes with multiple "shapes" and it clears the crafting table in a rectangle the bounds the shape in the top left

@SamLabbato

I can't believe phoenix canonically cranks diagonal speed bridges

@TBiscuit1

I figured it out!!

Let me first do shapeless recipe as they are easier to understand

Let's take the flint and steel for our example

The flint and steel craft consist of 2 items, an iron ingot and a flint
What I think is happening is that when you craft the item, it checks the number of items and removed the item in the same amount of slots

So 2 items means top left and top middle gets -1 to their item count, if any
If there was 4 items, it would be top left, top middle, top right and left middle
9 items simply means all the slots gets -1

For shaped, a simillar logic can be applied, but also, empty slots in the recipes itself DO count as an extra item
This effectively means we can take the size of the recipe for the amount of slots getting -1

So the door is 2x3, so 6 slots gets deducted, in other words, the top 2 lanes
An axe is also 2x3, so 6 slots gets deducted
A pickaxe, a shield and a chestplate all are 3x3, which means all 9 slots gets deducted
A bucket is 3x2, so the 2 lanes gets deducted
A crafting table is 2x2, so the top lane + left middle slot gets deducted
A shovel is 1x3, so the top lane gets deducted

And that applies to every craft in the game, quite the funky bug ngl, don't know how they messed up like that

Edit:
Maybe the normal crafting method checks every slot 1 by 1 to see if they have an item, then removes 1 item per slot it finds an item in, but for some reason the check always succeed and applies on empty slots (in other words air)? (Maybe the components have something to do with that?)

@theencolony5595

To explain the glitch to my understanding, the game is clearing the table based on how many rows the recipe takes up, but "positional" crafting recipies are broken so that they only clear the default position (i.e starting in the top left corner)

Since matter cannot be created or destroyed, this must be Minecraft's way of finally balancing out all the matter that has been destroyed from cacti, explosions, fire, etc. in the past.

@ExoticCheeseDev

I believe this happens because minecraft reads recipes like a book, left to right, top to bottom. and from looking at this, it seems like one of the issues here is that its only checking the rows that the original recipe is in. and this for some reason is not accounting for recipes you can move... i have NO idea how this got past moyang, and its a pretty quick fix, so its definitely going to be patched next snapshot
