Is no one going to mention how that man at 2:11 just picked a lemur out of the ground like a potato?
So much bizarreness going on with prosimians! The slow lorises' venom, the sifakas' arboreal and terrestrial forms of locomotion, and the aye-aye's... everything... are all worth getting their own dedicated episodes somewhere down the line.
"We don't have the same kind of ability to store fat..." Brave words, this soon after Thanksgiving! * pats belly *
The 2:11 rude wake-up is priceless. Just five more minutes, dad!
Reptiles also tend to store fat in their tails, so there has to be some evolutionary pressure that pushes for that
Love lemurs, almost as much as I love Bizarre Beasts! Please include this critter as one in your next sticker collection! ❤️
This paper has been haunting me since I started my master's on bat arousal literally just one month ago, and now even this channel is talking about it! This all coinciding with the first time I've ever researched torpor is crazy for me
I can’t get enough Bizarre Beasts.. everything from the critters to the hosts, just an awesome cavalcade of info, images + critters. Plus I’d like to make a background like those beautiful trees in the background. Keep up the great job y’all!!
4:56 That's right, genetically engineered catgirls (and boys) is the answer for long distance space travel
Yea there’s a lot of research into brown adipose tissue and diabetes. Or just adipose tissue and diabetes. It’s a strong field. I come across it a lot bc I used to help research a type II mitigation technique as an undergrad and I still get updates on the ongoing research in the field.
Slow Loris! lol I love them. These Lemurs are very cute too ❤
"one hurdle we would have to get over is our brain" that could also be some good dating advise :D
The music in this episode was INCREDIBLE!! Really added to the experience, super entertaining, and very fun!
1:12 Now that you mention it, people from temperate places tend to be most surprised by how rainy the tropics can be, especially during the rainy seasons!
"But I can't do that (hibernate), at least not naturally" Don't you tell me what to do! I'll stuff my face with as much garbage as I can grab, crawl under my blanket like an inchworm and stay there. Wake me up in May.
Could you do an episode on the spotted hyena? That’s a bizarre beast for sure!
I would love to see an episode on shoebill storks at some point! They are the coolest looking bird out there imo 😊
Could Bizarre Beasts do the Pangolin? A highly endangered species of scaly mammal endangered due to wildlife trafficking. Three facts, long tongue, scaly mammal , related to big cats classification wise. Some information is unknown due to how endangered they are, but needs more awareness...
Looks like Hank's tiktoks about hibernation and torpor made their way into the script lol
