I was a trans kid just a few years ago and gender-affirming care SAVED my life. It was only a few months after I turned 18 that my state banned trans healthcare for minors. I just barely missed it, but I knew younger people who were scared and devastated. It hurts to think about the fear and hopelessness that this ruling is going to inflict on trans youth across the country.

I saw parts of an interview with someone from the TN side. He kept repeating that he was concerned that a Trans child would not “be able to procreate.” A trans woman cannot breastfeed her child. A trans man cannot have a child to continue the family. It gave me the ick because it was clear to me that it was more important to him that people made more babies than be healthy and happy. And it doesn’t track because I certainly don’t hear much concern from them about a woman’s right to choose healthcare to save her fallopian tubes in the case of an ectopic pregnancy. Or the right to choose healthcare to save her uterus or LIFE in the case of sepsis. On top of just the trend of people choosing not to have kids. FFS -A happily married childless cat lady

Just saw on russian tv that they're thrilled with pab45's picks, esp patel. They literally said, " these people will literally pull the US apart, brick by brick and we can't wait." If this isn't a warning to ALL Americans, red as well as blue, nothing is 😮 They are chomping at the bit for the fall of the US.

I recall when the anti-abortion crowd pivoted from "protect the unborn" to "protect the woman," claiming that there were severe mental health risks for anyone who has an abortion. Some women regret having an abortion after the fact, and so women need to be protected for their own sakes. My ex-friend said to me a couple of months ago that we have to protect people from the possibility of regretting having gender-affirming care as children (or as adults), because of the people who come forward later and say they wish they hadn't done it. I was so outraged by her fake compassion, I stopped talking to her at that point. All the "immigrants are ruining my pretty white country" talk I was used to, but the way she tried to frame bigotry as compassion made me think of the pro-slavery talk of old. "Those who know what's best for us must rise and save us from ourselves," as Rush sang, and as the lyrics of that song become law in this country in the years to come, we will learn the true meaning of 20-20 hindsight.

Thank you Steve for advocating for the trans community!! My son who is gonna be 24 yrs old in a week is trans and, I’m so grateful he was able to access the treatments he wanted. Im afraid for him for when he goes off to grad school in a year. What if they just ban all access for medical treatments to all trans people, not just kids/teens.

My husband is a trans man who was treated by the doctor who is suing the state of TN. We're proud of the legal team but bracing for disappointment
