@LinkeHarryB

America pressuring other nations should be an important consideration in buying European. The Gripen offers compelling value.

@1918BARsam

Grip -en. Not Graipen.

@hendrikmoons8218

For anyone willing to operate the J37 Gripen, there are 2 main problems:
1. the engine: (extract from wikipedia) All in-service Gripens as of January 2014 are powered by a Volvo RM12 turbofan engine (now GKN Aerospace Engine Systems), a licence-manufactured derivative of General Electric F404...
This means, if big brother Murica says no, you do not get to buy them. So Sweden competing with the USA who has veto rights on who they sell too...
2. You can NEVER equip your fighters with nukes. Sweden forbids you to take on communists on equal footing.

If it were not for these two major impact reasons, it would been an excellent choise over overpriced American fighter jets.

@theshermany

The Gripen definitely has its place. It can supercruise. The 404 and 414 engines have a great history. I see where Canada my purchase them. And in a support setting they have been maintaining CF18's for years and the Gripens 414 is an upgrade of the CF18' 404. In a setting where the fog of war helps Stealth I think Gripens and F35's working together would be a good union.

@tonyrotzler63

That is definitely changing

@SalvadorOrangedude

Gripen is way prettier than most American jets

@jamessveinsson6006

SAAB always made quality fighters and I always love the 900 S turbo they should come back and make that again

@ShadowBunny666

Australia would benefit highly from this

@vanessa_amber

Just wait Japan will finally build real life battle mechs πŸ˜‚ and other world countries will buy there mechs πŸ’€πŸ˜Ž

@SaigonMouse

I remember the corruption scandals from the Lockheed company. In the Netherlands they bought the Dutch Prince Bernard for 7 million dollars because he was the head of the Dutch armed forces. For that money he had to use his influence to buy the F104G starfighter. A lot of pilots lots their life with that plane. Germany had about 950 starfighters and nearly 400 crashed in peacetime.

@honfmeilingfleet957

the Spare part is not Native Swedens, thats one of reason why

@davetomlinson9063

Pronunciation is a bit off.

@toyouview

Thailand has both F-16 and Gripen.

@Chiyomi_Anzai599

At least Guripen-chan (Gripen pronounced in Japan) from Girly Air Force Anime show is loved and respected by the people of Nippon and JASDF. UwU ❀ πŸ’―

@AccordGTR

F-16V cheaper? That can't be true.

@Maniguessf22

America likes MONEY
day 4 of asking where do u get you footage from

@D0ctorcreepz-my5hv

Bulgaria payed 5 billion for 16 F-16 fighters. The JAS-Gripen would have been cheaper for 32 units

@AustinP2k

I mean... The US dictates who can buy the E/F series due to their reliance on the F414 GE engine. The F-16V is cheaper to run in the long run. Countries opt to choose American fighters due to buying into the US security umbrella.

@mauriceg1726

I have a gripe with the commentator, it is GRIPen as in β€œHe had a strong grip on the handle” not GRIPEn as in β€œMy gripe with the commentator β€œ - fun fact - Gripen translates in English to Griffen.

@hummingbird7220

So called free nation!
