I love his insights and big ideas. There's a contrast to Ocean Vuong's rendering of America, the kindness and joy amid deception and hopelessness, versus liberalism's attachment to Obama's message of Hope. Both Obama and Ocean speak to truth, but I'm starting to really vibe with Ocean's exploration of suffering. We're telling the story of America with each moment. One of the amazing things to note is not the vacuum at the center of Trump's vision for America -- it's apparent that he is all about survival. But as we come to terms with the alternative, it's so important to listen to our better angels - not necessarily our professional politicians and leaders, but our poets and artists and philosophers.

I listened to this on the NYT App but am sharing the YT link as far and wide as I can to friends and family. I found this interview deeply impactful. I was inspired by Vuong's vulnerability, clarity, and modesty. I feel like I found someone to deeply admire (not easy to do, it seems), and I'm so glad I did.
