There was more than enough room on that bit of wood for Rose and Jack

@PrestageP

I can only imagine the bittersweet feelings the crew must have felt when they finally came across the wreck of the RMS Titanic. On the one hand they must have had sheer joy and excitement in finding her after so much effort and then the slow realization that they are looking at the wreck of a once great vessel where over 1,500 people tragically lost their lives.

@michaeldavis29

The search for Titanic took 73 years to find her after she sank on April 15, 1912 for two reasons: Firstly, while Titanic did send an SOS before she lost her chance to that night, the marconi operators changed her last known position based on the stars that was a clear night sky when she sank, which explains why Carpathia couldn't find Titanic's last known position the morning after because it was 13 miles off where Titanic actually sank the night before the rescue ship found the survivors in thirteen lifeboats in just two hours after Titanic sank.

2. The second reason why it took so long to find Titanic was because the marine technology required to try at such a depth she rests at now wasn't invented yet until the 1950s, which took more time to perfect until the 1980s. The US Navy was more interested in finding submarine wrecks they lost in the Cold War around that time in the 80s, and that's how Robert Ballard finally solved the mystery where Titanic is in September 1985. Ballard used a trick he learned to find two submarine wrecks by following the debris field to their main wrecks, before he used the spare time from the same mission to find Titanic using the same trick he used to find USS Thresher and Scorpion before Titanic.

I wasn't born yet when Titanic was found, but I do imagine the excitement when she was found. Though I'd also imagine myself being shocked at finding the ship in two main halves by the time they found what was left of the stern compared to the bow after that exciting year of the Titanic wreck's discovery.

@jebbroham1776

The Titanic is actually THE most famous maritime disaster in history, because the ship that could saved everyone aboard her was just 19 miles away, yet ignored the distress rockets she fired. The Californian's captain would be severely ridiculed for this decision not to come to Titanic's aid for the rest of his life.

Sometime in the future: "why it took 73 years to find MH370?"

@Kai112086

I can see why recovering the big piece was criticized, but seeing it in person is something else. We all know the story and have seen pictures and movies and recreations, but seeing part of the ACTUAL ship is something I can't describe. If you go to Las Vegas, go to the museum in Luxor. It is absolutely worth it.

@SeaBunni0

There's a video of the titanic's steam whistle being sounded after being carefully restored. It sounded for the lost, I heard a recording myself.. it's so eerie. It feels like I heard the sounds of souls crying out, hauntingly beautiful. They couldn't use steam because it could damage the whistles so it was played with air. I'm happy she got to sing one last time for people.

I hope someday a replica is made with a steam system so we can hear how it really sounded, and the original gently placed back with the wreck. It's the voice of over a thousand lost souls after all.

@splender88

As a kid I always heard about the Titanic, but it had never been found. After it was found, it became a very big story, but it was so deep down it was nearly impossible to get to it. Now it has deteriorated to the point where there is not much left.

As a boy I saw that wall of the titanic, "It belongs in a museum" -- Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

@timothyallen2013

I've been fascinated with the Titanic all my life, ever since elementary school. And this is by far one of the best videos I've seen. it's amazing that the kind of technology we have today can do a lot of great things that we can't. I remember a few days after my 23rd birthday, I went to Las Vegas, Nevada, and I saw the piece of the Titanic's hull. It was a big dream come true for me, and the piece of the ship's hull was bigger than I ever could have imagined. I even bought myself a piece of coal that came from the Titanic wreck itself, and I said to myself,
"After all these years of research, at long last, I finally have a piece of history with me."
Anyway, the Titanic needs to be protected and rest in peace forever at the bottom of the sea because it is true it's not just a wreck, it's a grave site for over 1500 people who died on April 15th, 1912. I also say that after the Titan submersible accident, no more tourists should risk their lives just to go see the beautiful ship.

@toddkurzbard

Despite what various naysayers might say here, nearly everything covered here is correct - which is a refreshing change from most TITANIC videos. The ONLY mistake (and it is a minor one), is saying Ballard "discovered" the SCORPION and the THRESHER: both had been found and photographed some years before, but it took Ballard and his crew and ARGO to investigate the wrecks in any DETAIL - what images and data existed was basically only a few very indistinct photos of small parts of the wrecks.

Other than that, this video is spot-on - which is why I'm making a VERY rare exception to my stringent "NO upvote for AI narration" rule.

@natebartels1444

Both Scorpion and Threshers wrecks had already been found - it was merely to check the condition of the wrecks and make sure that nuclear material wasn’t leaking from the wrecks as both were nuclear submarines with reactors on the seabed and Scorpion was also carrying nuclear torpedoes too.

@TheDanzomanzo

Billionaires or not, I won't share in the same pleasure as those who mock the Titan incident. But for me, it's as poignant a tale as the tragedy of the Titanic itself and that the ocean very much has it's own rules. I'm glad the wreck was discovered and that items which can help historians understand the vessel further were recovered. But any notions of macabre tourism have to end now. Let it rest in peace.

@Izzymohammed1

I took my mother to see this exhibit in Melbourne 2010. Great trip.

@ZYGY98

I never was this early to Titanic video

@Skipdogg15

Its amazing it took people this long to realize this. Every single person condemning you for driving to WORK are parading around on their private jets...for literally no purpose. Wake up people, they want to keep you down so they can have it all to themselves like they are special.

@Alexius01

Well done and well researched. Its nice to see people putting in more effort into their videos compared to the other ingenious accounts doing videos about the titanic and surrounding history. You use great animations and i look forward to see more from you :)

@susancoddington6393

Robert Ballard's only regret of finding the Titanic is the bringing up of anything from the wreck site and because it should be respected as a grave to all who persished that cold fateful night and early morning, as w3ll as the damage caused by relic s3ekers etc completely agree with him
