"This is a no quit workplace"
"Yes, that's why I'm quitting."

@ZoeMalDoran

Laughed out loud at the silent reaction to "Which side did they fight on?"

@SharewareWizard

I love this scenario, "I can't quit? alright. I'll stop turning up and you keep paying me and we'll see who backs down first.."

- You pay me $7.25 an hour!
- Plus tips!
- No, you don't pay the tips, the customer does!

@Kinsfire

The sad thing is, there are companies that think like this ...

@Tarrer123

I love how these companies expect you to give two weeks notice when you want to quit, but when they fire you you’re out the door right now!

@YouVSMeTV

So, apparently this is a real thing. Somebody told me an anecdote about this a while back and I was flabbergasted to say the least. His response was great though. On being told he couldn’t quit because he would get a bad reference, be ineligible for rehire etc, he said fine I’m taking a long term sabbatical and I’ll be back in 50 years. 😂

@MattMcIrvin

I had the opposite experience once. Came into the boss's office to tell him I quit and he was like, "nah, I understand, you don't even need to explain."

@db5823

No! Not a slave! We like to think of ourselves as a big happy family -- and you can't quit a family. You're lucky we even pay you, normally you don't pay family ... unless you're real family, and then you get paid extra and lots of promotions.

@jimcalhoun361

I worked in a bakery in South Florida 40+ years ago where the boss tried to tell me I couldn't quit. I may have been young and stupid but I wasn't that stupid

@afterhourscinema782

If a company says, "We're all a family"

Run. 😂

@notthatyouasked6656

Working in Japan is kind of like this. You're expected to be loyal forever. If you quit, most companies will demand that you make formal, written apologies to the company and your co-workers. And no, I'm not making that up.

@gunrunnerification

Oh, man...this is so on-point. "You're not allowed to leave -- until we decide it's time, in which case today is your last day."

@OverworkedITGuy

"Which side did they fight on?" I saw it coming, but it was still 5000% hilarious. 🤣😂

@tpalicz

"Which side did they fight on?"

@bloodrainicorn6193

My boyfriend was talking about this. Saying the reason out healthcare is tied to our jobs and the way they bust unions. They don’t want us to quit. They want to break our spirits and make moving on impossible. And when they inevitably get contacted by a new employee - they want to make it look like they offered you so much to stay.

They also don’t want you to say you quit. They want to make you look bad and deny you unemployment benefits.

@da_pikmin_coder8367

This actually happened to my sister. She put in her two-weeks notice and the manager tried to send it back. "I won't allow this, you can't do this to us when we need you!" Well, they should've paid her like they did. She put her foot down and said "this isn't negotiable: if you refuse my two-week notice that means I quit right now."

@searchingfororion

I have a friend who has actually had this conversation NUMEROUS times. Eventually he just began walking out - but texting coworkers in advance so they could compensate for the schedule adjustment.

@heartofthewild680

According to Bing, in the US, employers cannot legally prevent you from quitting. They can say “this is a no quit workplace” all they want, but they can’t actually
enforce it (if they do, I believe that falls under wrongful imprisonment and forced labor, both of which to my knowledge are criminal offenses)
