I want to thank the patreon members, too. Because of you guys, I get to watch The Why Files for free. Thank you, AJ, hecklefish, and WF team ❤
I'm ex ROYAL NAVY, sO I know a lot of stories and I also know that a lot of them cant be disproved! Great video...thanks AJ.
I love it when i open YouTube and see a new why files episode premiering! Best channel on ANY platform!
I subbed to this channel back when he was under 100k and just looked at his current cub count (4.6m), so happy to see the channel thriving. This video is #8 in trending. You deserve it AJ. The Fausto story sounds like drug trafficking gone wrong. Makes sense as to why they would refuse help from authorities.
Lord Hecklefish: "...the ocean is basically a very moisty graveyard..." AJ: "...with really good sea food" Lord Hecklefish: "you sick bastard" Priceless. Love it. ❤ One of these days, Lord Hecklefish could be the host or even start a spin off...
Nothing chills the spine quite like a ship sailing with no crew and no answers. Ghost ships are like the ocean’s way of reminding us we don’t know jack about what's beneath the waves... or who’s still sailing them.
A detail about the Mary Celeste jumped out at me, that I never noticed before in that story: the pocket watch was still running. A pocket watch at that time, fully wound, would on average run ~30 hours, some as long as 60 hours. This is at odds with the fact that the last entry in the log was 8 days previous (ie. ~192 hours).
...And were back to your regularly formatted Why Files. Balance in the universe is restored.
Not me listening to this as I'm on a boat cooking for my crew. Yep, it's Mel, the one that walked off her job on Xmas day and got a boat job. I'm still at it and loving this story! It's giving me chills for sure. My favorite channel ever!
Absolutely the best channel on YT. Best subject matter, best production value, best host. Near perfection.
"We seem to be at an impass" The deep sigh from AJ...chefs kiss 😂
Really odd how many of these happen with food on the table. It's almost like whatever causes 'em doesn't have a problem with seagoing vessels but has a REAL problem with lunch.
I love how eclectic and facinating the content is on Why Files!
Im still loving the videos. The comment section is usually great too. Hearing others stories about similar events adds another dimension, and it's a great community.
It appears to me that you might be getting fed up with your co-host, but your back and forth chemistry is priceless. Another great episode, thanks
This sounds like an interesting episode. I love that you guys are actively releasing content again. And we get an after files afterwards! Thanks dudes.
Spent about 4 years out on the Atlantic. The weather is formidable, the nights are eerie sometimes, other times beautiful --- new moon, clear skies, calm waters. You can see the entire universe it seems. That old ship has a few ghosts I think. Working alone below decks on the zero to four watch... I felt like someone was following me around sometimes. Cool episode 👍
One of the most scary things I have ever scene was a documentary (in the 70's I think) on what life was like for the civilian crews on merchant transport ships in convoys accross the Atlantic during WWII. This specific case was an interview of a sailor who was aboard a merchant vessel that got torpedoed in the night a few hundred mile or so south of Greenland, but that was not the scary bit. He was lucky and got out of the water into a life boat very quickly only to find it empty, in the darkness he could hear ship mates calling for help so he desperately tried to paddle the large life boat towards them, he managed to save a couple others but would often paddle to a spot only to find no one there. While they waited for daylight hoping to be to be rescued a few hours after the last calls for help had stopped the exhaustion took over he and his two ship mates went to sleep. He awoke suddenly with intense pain in one of his legs, on looking down he saw the tentacle from a giant squid wrapped around his calf, the suckers with sharp tooth like edges cutting into him and trying to pull him overboard. His two ship mate awoken by his screams saw what was happening and one of them found a large knife in the life boats survival kit and managed to cut the tentacle off where it came over the side of the boat. Even after being severed the remaining tentacle and suckers kept biting and squerming as if still attached to the squid making it very hard to remove. The video finished with the old sailor rolling up his trouser leg to show the horrendous scares and large lumps of muscle that had never regrown from that night about 30 years ago.
Thanks, AJ and hecklefish - as a sea Captain, I appreciate this one even more - respect the sea - fear the sea - love the sea. Never stop guys, I will continue to spread the word
