@phantom0456

That badass NASA F-15 with canards was apparently quite the maneuverer…

@gibster9624

The F-16 is insanely maneuverable at low speeds but has the benefit of being able to cruise at higher speeds and altitudes without inconsistencies in flight. The Gripen is supercruise in name only because canards just limit its high-speed capabilities.

@roblockhart6104

Delta wing designs with forward canards are great for one circle fights and low speed maneuverability but are highly unstable platforms that depend on flight controls/fbw systems to continually compensate their unstable flight parameters.

European fighters were designed for a low speed, point your nose, one circle fight, whereas US fighters were designed for higher load capacity, utility, flight stability, and, moreover, two circle rate fights.

Which is better depends on the pilot knowing his adversaries strength and weaknesses; it's all about tactics and strategy - mistakes kill.

@SKYWATCHAVIATION

Because as the kid would say canards are gay-habitual linecrosser

@RobertMayfair

They are also harder to make stealthy

@cybercat3113

Where’s the GOAT F15 MTD? That thing was beautiful and I love it in Ace Combat.

@Justfishcatches

Stealth and Leading Edge Extensions were incorporated into current and future designs

@TBlakely-s4p

I read that there are stealth issues with canards

@kirkwilson5905

China's J-20 really ain't all that.

@louis_the_hedgehog

Guess what? We just did. Enter the F47.

@Mark-ch8pi

Any One who doesn't mention the historically Enormous U.S. LOGISTICS organizations , for Over 8 (Eight) Decades ... is just Willfully Ignorant .

@MP-nc2pw

The Gripen and Rafale use these to access small aircraft carriers or roads. This is a huge advantage. The Eurofighter uses them to maneuver well at low speeds, despite being optimized for high speeds, and to lose less speed in turns.

@givemeabreak8784

The new F47 comes with canards.

@fredthefish581

I got this a couple days after the f-47 was revealed

@bd5av8r1

The F-47 has canards, and its a US fighter.

@usov656

Canards are mostly for low speed manueverability and stability. The US is focusing on thrust vectoring with the latest designs, which help to achieve the same thing. You could have both, but that would make your design overly complicated and expensive, so the US chose thrust vectoring over canards.

Also canards supposedly dont work super well with stealth.

@tinynuggins1029

I think the designers also remember that Kenard is also the kid that killed Omar on "The Wire." ...not to mention he also took Naymonds money from the package and then lied about it. ....wait...oh CANARD.
My fault. I might watch a little too much TV.

-Kenard was still wrong for that though.

@christian9125abd

russia also stopped using carnards after the su-30 (well idk really any russian plane with canards expect the su-30 und su-33. the newer su-35 also does not need them. so i guess if the 2 most sucessful fighter producers do not need them they are not needed at all

@eobardthawne5246

F-14a had canards.

@uptowndunker6346

I heard the 22 thinks canards are gay
