I appreciate how Jake isn’t leaning into the more corporate side of Disney, via making the one holding Oswald back his technical brother Mickey. In a way, they’re suffering from the same thing but from different aspects. Oswald suffering from never getting used, and his copyright preventing him from being used, and Mickey being overused to the point where people literally make him some evil tyrant. (It was funny at first guys, the joke is old, stale, and repetitive now.)

I honestly find Public Ozwald’s design to be really cute. It’s also nice to know the current copyright and trademark restrictions on Oswald. It also makes me feel better knowing some cartoon rabbit ocs I’ve made likely won’t get me in copyright trouble. Song at the end was really nice and was a creative idea!

Really does suck that disney is trying to hard to restrict anyone from using the guy despite not doing anything with him in decades. Loved that cartoon rabbit since the early 2010s and knowing people are finding loopholes to use the guy while giving disney a well deserved middle finger warms my evil little heart.

Like a lot of people, I was introduced to Oswald thanks to the Epic Mickey game, and I immediately loved him! I really hope Disney loses this fight and we can get Oswald back into the light!

I think it's amazing that YOU talked about it, because it was because of your fnf mod that I remembered Oswald, I started to like him, and consequently I found out in 2021 that he was in the public domain, and after that I created this channel only about short films in the domain public of this rabbit.

This video made me realize how empowering a public domain can be. Now I want Felix the Cat to be public so I can make something big. I already had a dream pilot in mind. And who ever owns him now DEFINITELY ain’t doing anything with him. Oswald? Felix? Give us the option to make something ourselves then! Also. I love your “public” design of Oswald! Perhaps a silly question. Is it meant to be “public public”, as in anyone can use this grade A+ design? I don’t post my animations, but I’d theoretically give you credit and help spread the word. Edit: Felix is public domain, thanks for the information, albeit trademarked. So maybe I’ll do something with my pilot script draft one day. Kinda working on my own original show though :)

I love Oswalds design Jake did, it stays reminiscent of the common design but gives more charm into it! Also is anyone not gonna mention the glitchy lookin Oswald at the end…..he was pretty cool…right?

the first few cartoons that Oswald starred are in the public domain, but Oswald as a character is still trademark-able and is in fact trademarked by Disney. but you can kinda get around it by just referring to him as "Oswald" rather than "Oswald the Lucky Rabbit" and also use the interpretations from the aforementioned public domain cartoons
