@DayrateNiterate

Really good advice! The main problem with many bootcamps is that they need to stop misleading people and telling any and everyone that they can take you from zero to job ready. And many of them vastly overcharge. People are spending the last of their savings.

I seriously appreciate your candid approach man. No gimmicks, just genuinely trying to help others. Love your content bro, it’s been so incredibly helpful for me. I’m approaching the end of a coding bootcamp and have just got a taste of the so called ‘imposter syndrome’. Made me search for things junior devs do wrong, and it’s motivating me to keep my head down, let go of the ego, and keep learning. Thank you for this reminder

I graduated last year, but i wouldnt be able to get volunteer/internship opportunities without it especially no prior experience, im currently juggling 2 volunteering internships while working a part time applying in the free time. Been doing this for 6 months and ive already seen a big difference in the amount of interviews ive gotten as well as receuiters messaging me on linkedin. My biggest advice is if you want to have a better chance getting a job is to sacrifice your time for non paying internships so you can put it on your resume

I went to a bootcamp and it was okay. Way too fast to learn everything. 13 graduates and I think only 2 found jobs about 6 months after bootcamp.

r/bootcamp is also full of people trying to fish for students to set the hook and then reel them in for a quick buck. So it is also very predatory.

@Zynkah

I had to connect an Oauth for my first job and I would never wish that on a fresh bootcamp junior dev even if they were my enemy 😆

@perpetualtechnoob

Great advice.
It is appreciated.

Recent bootcamp grad/career switcher. Excellent timing on this video — I really started to spiral due to the sheer volume of unproductive and negative takes regarding bootcamp grads in today’s market. This was the exact, no-BS wake-up call I needed.

I’m not sure if you’ve covered it in other videos, but how much time do you think one should spend trying to strategically broaden their stack versus hammering the fundamentals within their current stack? I don’t want to spread myself too thin, but also can’t help but feel that taking the time for an AWS certification, for instance, would put me in the right direction for the majority of jobs I’m interested in.

Regardless, fantastic video. Subscribed! Thanks! 🙏🏼

@riacharda

I laughed out loud at 13:28! You even have JavaScript groups that constantly share memes; nothing insightful and no job leads.

@rhb30001

Build bunch stuff ? 😂 like what ??

@boatnerjg

Wwat do you think of launch academy? THey seem to have the best placements still, and the concept of mastery based learning seems like the best way to become a self sufficient programmer (out of non degree routes).
