I joined the church at 22. I want a mission 14 months later to Europe and learn dutch. I communicated like a third grader for a while and talk to kids to get my confidence up. I love my mission although it was so hard and difficult. The obligation I felt was to proclaim the gospel and not necessarily explain everything.
