Looking back at it, my instructor was really tough on me. She would often shout and swear at me for making mistakes which would send me into panic mode, leading to more mistakes. Lessons were stressful with her and I would be anxious before each one. I found that driving on my own after passing was so much more relaxing and much easier than driving on lessons 🤷♂️

I had an instructor that would shout at me, and as I’m not a confident person by nature, he made it worse and I absolutely dreaded going for my lessons and gave up. Years later I started my driving lessons again and I had a lady instructor, who was wonderful, patient and very calming, and she would not shout at me, however, when I made mistakes she made me stop at a safe convenient place, and would say let’s talk about that in a firm way which made me listen, not panic and learn from my mistakes. She was a spectacular driving instructor and to this day I still keep in touch with her as she gave me the confidence to pass my driving test. Amazing lady.

This is why I have so much respect for you. You never raise your voice with your students and you never shame them either. Being taught something by someone who makes you feel bad for making mistakes WHILE LEARNING, just adds so much anxiety

My very first instructor shouted at me constantly and wouldn't tell me how to fix what i did wrong. I had 2 lessons with him and changed. I was a nervous wreck from my first instructor and wasn't confident I could actually learn to drive.... But my new instructor was great! Structured the lesson, told me to make my mistakes so i can learn and is over all stern but patient. I started driving lessons 2 months ago, have got a test for September already (waiting times) and i feel more confident than i ever did. If your instructor shouts at you and you feel nervous in their presence? Get a new one! Best thing I ever did!

I stayed 17 hours with an instructor who was verbally and mentally abusive with me. It took me almost a year to dare asking for another one. It made this whole driving license journey so hard and painful
