What’s even creepier is the fact that Calvin barely makes a sound. The only sounds you hear him make are slapping and slippery tentacle sounds.
When it started looking for a way to open the sleeping pod I knew there was no way they gonna beat this thing.
He knew Calvin was on his leg I can’t believe people argue otherwise. We see him caressing his leg while talking about how he’s not evil, but he has to kill us, then he says “sorry” to them twice before passing away. The significance of his leg paralysis means that is the reason he’s not screaming in pain while Calvin is feeding on him, but he absolutely knew it was there.
2:05 I like how Calvin (the alien) at the end of the chase for a moment bumps its tentacle and head against the glass as if it was pissed it didn't catch any of the humans, partially the guy behind the glass, who just kicked Calvin in the face during the chase. There is also a moment earlier in the movie where the lab rat bites at it, and Calvin seems surprised for a second before it attacks the animal. Creating subtle moments of emotion in such an inhuman thing made it feel more intelligent yet no less terrifying. The VFX team did a superb job on this creature.
The way he checks the hinges of the pod is nuts
This is the best alien movie ever, the alien doesn’t kill them because hes evil, he does it to protect himself because he sees them as danger
As a extraterrestial creature, I appreciate the way we are portayed in this movie. Maybe a bit brutal, but indeed we need to act without much scruples.
Hugh is a traitor and a coward. He failed to warn the crew that Calvin was attached to his body. This is in addition to Hugh playing around with Calvin like he was his buddy earlier.
2:21 i laughed when calvin hit the door
Calvin trying to figure out how to open the sleeping pod is like me trying to figure out how to open my kids new lunchbox. I swear these new generation gadgets have me scratching my head. Calvin’s got way more patience than me.
The sound effect at 2:21 is amazing. Perfection!
Who ever came up with this monster in CGI is a genius.
Underrated movie. I enjoyed it. Sure it didn't have chestburters or xenomoprhs(the superior alien) but it had good lost in a haunted space house vibes and I enjoyed every minute of it. Especially the ending. Goes to show that even good movies can have the "bad guy" win.
As a biologist, I found this to be The Best alien every depicted in cinema.
2:21 did they seriously put in the comedic THUNK?
In this movie, all are died, but how Ryan Reynolds died was the most disturbing and brutal.
This film breaks Alien’s cardinal rule - don’t show the creature a lot - yet manages to be terrifying nonetheless
I was so mad when the man just let a random alien on the ship because it’s cute and little. I would NEVER! That’s just so irresponsible.
I love how they immediately lose their gun-weapon thing.
