The one piece of document control I find missing from this brief introduction is the disposition of obsolete documents. Further, consideration should be given to presenting this description of document control within the context of PDCA, which would include all of the respective controls stated as well as the disposition of obsolete documents.

Well said. Some people within the organisations, including some bosses, consider the Document Controller position as a funny, meaningless position, basically lower than a secretary.... but it is a hard work, requiring 100% focus all day long. Not to mention the document controller is supposed to be a scape goat for many jobs within the company that do not really belong to the doc controller responsibilities- filling in the excel charts for commissioning, and others.
