just a man yapping about anything while working on cars—pure perfection.
if you haven't already, crack the fuel injector lines at the fuel distributor. there's small screens built into the fuel line. you will see brown dirty fuel come out. leave open until fuel starts coming out clear. also, spray lubricant on the transmission linkages.
Max with the disappearing glove effect was unexpected and very impressive. Great editing work, as always, Max!
Just a note, I use that exact same ultrasonic cleaner for cleaning spray guns and I’ve noticed that having the tank full seems to lessen the vibrations. When I fill it half way the cleaning takes much less time and works better.
Out of all the YouTubers I watch on a regular basis, you are the only one I actually watch the affiliate part of. You deserve all the success and more brother.
I just want to take a minute to express my appreciation for Max as the editor of Alex his video's.
Would love to see the engine bay and under the car ice blasted and fully restored to match the awesome paint job. Such a cool project Alex.
The plunger of the fuel distributor gets stuck after long standing. Just push the big air flap before starting to see if you have fuel pressure and loosen up the plunger. These engines are great to maintain, very simple and reliable. Great to see the G wagons get attention :) Rust is the big enemy
Alex, your content on YouTube is a 10/10… Please never change!🇺🇸
I cant WAIT to see this thing after the Alex Detail.... Or better yet, a dry ice blast would make it MINT!
This is one of your best videos. That old German engineering is just so solid and reliable. I’m thinking I need to go find one of these. 😁👍🏻
I love that you're honest about not knowing every detail of every car (like old G-Wagon fuel systems), but you just jump in and start figuring it out. It's truly inspiring, showing people that working on cars doesn't have to be scary. Thanks Alex!
Alex, PLEASE ship me out ALL your old nuts and bolts, fittings and clamps you don't want anymore. To mechanics that can't afford the big ben of bolts like you now possess. The old bolts and nuts is like gold to a mechanic like me when needing a bolt or nut in a pinch. I am running low on my nut and bolt collection and need to refresh it, please. Another man's trash is another man's treasure. 😄
Love old G Wagons. This will hands down be my favourite project of Alex's and will be here for every second of it 🙌
I had an 82 240d and a 83 300TD Wagon which I would give anything to have back. I love the old turbo wagons. Just awesome. That thing had 220,000 miles on it when I sold it and still ran perfectly. I miss it so much.
Love the video! I have a 1973 Mercedes 280 sedan with the same M110 but it’s carbureted, I’ve had it over 10 years and it’s literally never skipped a beat or let me down. I also had a 67 Mercedes Unimog with a straight 6 engine, they can’t be beat! They are amazing engines! I also had a 2004 G55 AMG with over 200k miles and it ran like a top before I sold it to get my 2013 G63. Great reliable tough rigs that are so much fun to drive and own! Keep the good content coming!
Tip for your ultrasonic - to make it easier to swap between cleaners - put your parts in a baggie of the cleaner of choice, then just fill the tub with regular water. The baggie won't attenuate the cleaning, and your ultrasonic will remain cleaner. When it comes time to do jewelry or whatever other (often food grade) job, it's not loaded up with car part residue :). Can't wait to see the g-wagon ride again!
That 3D printed oil spout is so damn cool.
My weekends here in Australia are pretty dam depressing, I really look forward to watching your vids man. Appreciate you, your content and your consistency. Good work brother
