I actually never heard of Wim Hof till now but apparently I've been exposed to that unhealthy breathing exercise anyway through a yoga program and one of the practice employ the same hyperventilating technique, and that was such a terrible stressful experience. It puts you in a fight or flight mode as you breath more rapidly. People need to listen to their body.

Hey Jay, I've been watching your videos from sometime now. I think because of the placement of the microphone your face is becoming more asymmetric because you sort of dont want the plosive sounds into the microphone. Just noticing this. It would be better if you have a front facing microphone (ones you could keep straight) or just a regular gaming headphone.

Oh, I just enjoyed my invigorating cold shower, as I do every single day, even when it’s freezing outside. But let me tell you, I’ve always been super critical of Wim Hof. His breathing technique? Totally wrong.

@adityasangore5323

I did Wim Hof breathing and it's a really good technique but for a person like me who experiences high stress , this activity for exhausting.I used to do it before sleep to relax myself but it ended up making me more stressed internally.It did increase my cardiovascular capacity but inturn made be tired

@SurrogateActivities

i fast purely for fat loss. got me pretty damn lean. dont understand all the healing effects talk - unless its a really sick person that needs deep ketosis or something

@strega_bonnie

Aren't there proven benefits to things like fasting and cold thermogenesis outside of the hormesis angle? Or do all of those studies cite hormesis as the reason for the benefit?

@lessachcim2

Hi Jay, I’m curious if there are any benefits to the sauna if used in moderation. I’ve been using my sauna at home for 6 months now (3-4 times a week, 15 -20 min a session), and I feel like it has been helping me relax and get better sleep. I’m a mother of two young children, so sleep doesn’t come easy for me. I also like to use the sauna when I’m starting to feel sick, and I do feel like it helps me recover faster. Do you think this could be the placebo effect? Would you consider doing a Part 3 for your Hormesis podcast series, focusing more on cold plunges and saunas? These practices are more popular than ever, I would love to hear a deep dive into the pros and cons of each practice, including their history. I believe Native American’s started using sweat lodges to recover from illnesses.

@dennisward43

I agree with your take on hormesis, including all the addictive chemicals like sugar and toxins (oxalates, phytates, lectins,etc) in plant foods that cause stress in the human body.

@PJee069

I heard that a cold shower can reduce serotonin but on the other hand the cold exposure causes stress and adrenalin so its pretty unclear what to make out of it.

To me, turning the shower to cold, feels very refreshing but since I am somehow addicted to using stresshormones as an energysource i could be shooting in my own leg by doing so...

I guess its a jouney and the Individual has to find out what works for them

@skynet4496

i knew wim hof was bs from the start... he was claiming that it was his breathing that made him not get sick from being injected with a pathogen.... and his cold exposure.... HIS BROTHER WHO DOESNT PRACTICE HAS THE SAME RESULTS haha.
