The knife and shotgun work different for clients vs hosts.
Host Knives have a 0.4s or so cooldown between being able to damage, Clients knives do not and are as fast as you can click
Host shotguns do 5 damage up close. Client shotguns do 2x or 3x up close, making giants take 2 shots to kill and butlers 1shot instead of 2 (they have 8hp).

Also you can kill thumpers and spiders with the knife, however, they have giant "armored zones" ontop of their hitboxes. If you turn on colliders you will see 2 boxes, the top box is the HURTbox, and for whatever reason, uniquely to knives, if you hit the hurtbox it cancels out your hit and acts like armor. This is why you couldn't kill it by crouching ontop of it.
You can kill them by crouching and attacking their SIDES because the hurtbox won't be in the way of the hitbox this way. This is rather difficult and unintuitive to do ingame, even when you have a stun grenade. you crouch and sidestep thumpers when they are fast then stab them in their side twice in passing. or crouch and sidestep thumpers when they are fast while you're next to a wall then stab them in their side 4 times killing them when they crash into it. remember the front and top of the thumper are invincible to knives.

A cool video idea would be going over other non-weapon ways to kill monsters: lightning via keys (giant and everything else), eggs (giant!), running down stairs and over landmines (you survive because you're faster when going down slopes), throwing things on landmines(stun grenade, empty stun grenade, egg), baiting dogs into baboonhawks/mimics, using playerdetection crushing traps to kill indoor enemies, baiting robots into fighting enemies, using stungrenades on robots/giants then making the earth leviathan eat them while they're stunned, getting nutcrackers to shoot other enemies (other nuts!),
edit: cheese: there are places like wall-ledges/shelves in mansion and the facility staircase where enemies won't reach you and you can kill them without risk

In v50, killing a spider was made a LOT harder since the spider has a slight speed increase now, so you need to sprint every once and a while to not get overtaken

shovel and knife can kill forest keeper if you bring it to the ship door and hit it while inside the ship (don't get too close to the door, but close enough to hit the forest keeper.)

At 8:37 "The dog is fairly easy as you only need 3 stun grenades." Since when would a player carry 3 stun grenades with them randomly (unless they know they're fighting a dog)?

Killing a bracken is way easier than it seems hes  REALLY bad at turning you can kill him by just running in a circle inside main door facility he has 5 hp but it sometimes takes 3 hits to kill him due to you sometimes hitting two of his hitboxes at once
EDIT: Thumper has two hitboxes one of the hits you and other is where you can hit him the knife (for some reason) cant hit truh the hurtbox so you have to crouch and spin around it while aiming down to hit the second hitbox and also im pretty sure you can kill 99% of things without stun granades

Another tip is if you go outside while it is on your head, it will immediately die without the need for a weapon.

for the giant the most effective way of killing it is with other monsters (worm/old bird) or a lucky easter egg

also if a mask is infecting you can interrupt it by hitting it and let it try it again to basically stun lock it

5:22 You can also jump on top of the main door on mansion layout for an easy kill, hardest part is getting the butler on top of the elevated parts near the base of the pillars so you can actually damage it
