You didn't mention the fact that that the name Wii U was a bad decision as well, many un-informed consumers believed the system to just be a peripheral for the original Wii as opposed to a brand new system.
i like motion controls... virtual reality wouldnt work without it
hey man, that's some pretty awesome content you got there. you just earned yourself a new subscribo. thanks for bein' in my interview!
It will AT LEAST do better than the Wii U (2-4m sales more), I'm 100% sure of that and the marketing plus the strong first party lineup backs up my statement.

Welcome back. Another great video! Good point about it being a Japanese event and the ramifications thereof. I wouldn't have though of that but it makes complete sense, especially with a different cultural mindset. My personal opinion (even before I saw this video), I know it isn't going to be like Wii U 2.0. I can understand 3rd party devs being dubious at first, but that's a given. If Nintendo work with them this time around, this will allay their fears. Their marketing has been absolutely on point. Top notch. I have no rebuttals :)
I think the fact that people are actually talking about their new console this time is a much better sign.
Hi, I'm here for the clickbait
it's already off to a better start with all this marketing, making more third party devs test the water more, giving more people incentive to buy one and it keeps going. The 'wait and see approach' is most likely 'let's port a 7th gen game or create a small game first to test the waters' rather than 'let's do nothing at all and rather look at how other third party devs do' for 2 reasons: 1. this also happened, to an extend, for the wii u, and then they decided it wasn't worth it. 2. it's much easier to code for with the less proprietary architecture so they can port something in a third of the time. Finally, they said 'wait and see' because then people can't accuse them of lying if they decide not to develop for it after a small release. Also, price for the online service is known: between 2000 and 3000 yen, if I remember correctly. That's barely anything.
I personally have no doubt that Switch will sell far better than the Wii U, but I'm not so sure it won't suffer from most of its largely avoidable Nintendo-self-created problems (utterly crap Virtual Console, rubbish online, lack of major AAA third party support, missing a bunch of obvious first party titles from its most beloved franchise, etc).
It wont be another Wii U because the Wii U was just a tablet for the Wii right?
Exactly. Good video.
Well, hopefully it will be, because the Wii U is awesome. They just need to advertise it better :P
Damn, you're making me wanna break out my ol Dreamcast for some Sonic Adventure! But yeah, I agree with the vid. Hopefully it turns out well, but if Nintendo intends to abandon it's other franchises (Metroid, F-Zero) I still will not get a Switch.
You are right the Marketing is much bettet than with the Wii U. I Hope you are right concerning 3rd party support
I think on top of all that is the fact that the Switch hardware is MUCH better than Wii U. I never bought a Wii U, I played it a bit and it felt confusing, underpowered and plastic. The basic idea of a tablet controller wasn't all that appealing and didn't work far away from the console. Switch has a central idea that works really well and makes sense - it's a hybrid console that works 100% as both handheld and TV, and on top of that the controllers are innovative and well featured, and HD rumble sounds amazing. It's a gadget that people can easily understand and it offers something that none of the other game devices on the market can do. Also, which is another point, the first party Switch games already look fantastic. BOTW is there, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Arms, Snipperclips, Xenoblade 2 and Mario Odyssey, all in the first 8 months or so. It took 4-5 years for Wii U to get a strong Nintendo lineup and even then there weren't that many games that I'd call system sellers from Nintendo, whereas almost all the games I listed there will be.
Forgot to put links you mentioned in the description.
I'm looking forward to picking mine up just a few weeks left. Exciting times last Nintendo machine I bought at launch was 3DS. Zelda will be better to buy on Switch rather than wii U since that's where the future investment is in. Time to archive my wiiU I have hope Nintendo are back on track with a great system can't wait.
The switch really looks like a glorified Wii U tablet with a docking station.
