mod ash on several occasions has said that the firemaking skill took approx 10 minutes of development. there was a question as to if it should be part of the cooking skill at first, but then they decided to make it its own stand alone skill. there was at one point some justification for the xp rates early on in the og rs days, back when it was basically a clan wars game where pvp was enabled everywhere and you couldnt progress through the game unless you joined a clan and helped pk everyone. no safe zones, no banks lol

I don't know when this was recorded but they added the ability to lock tiles in your inventory so you don't have to use bank fillers to not deposit certain items. It has been very nice. There's a setting in the bank menu that lets you enable right click lock inventory slot. Great for buying sands or not depositing your runes in gotr you use for combo runes or depositing your loot without also depositing all your switches and tele items.

After maxing a HCIM, one thing I wish I would have done earlier is green logging volcanic mine. It is one of a few locations where disconnecting is still auto death unless waiting out entire membership time making it comparable in lethalness to ToA, ToB, and coliseum.
