IMHO Sigma is the most important camera company of the past decade or so. All the new bodies are fine, but if it wasn't for Sigma, most shooters out there who aren't Youtubers couldn't afford decent lenses. When I sold off my DSLRs I started fresh with the R6 II and use all adapted EF lenses (flawless) with 2/3 of them being Sigma Art lenses.
To me, the rankings say that Canon makes great glass, but not many people can afford to own it.
I really don't understand your hostility to cropping. I shoot wildlife, mostly small songbirds, and thinking that I can compose completely in camera is ludicrous - the birds usually don't fill the frame and they tend to flit about wildly. As it's clear that portrait photographers don't suffer the same constraints, there's no reason for assuming that everyone shares the same priorities. It reminds me of a 5 year old who covers their eyes and then claims "you can't see me" :)
I shoot canon mirrorless but use EF glass. That canon adapter is magic.
A return of the Sigma 200-500 f2.8 haha
This is going to sound a little bit like sour grapes (because, admittedly, it is), but is it possible Canon glass - RF glass in particular - tops the rental lists is because they price it out of the reach for purchase of so many of us out here?
It's very simple I'm using only mirrorless (canon) for the last few years, yet all of my lenses are EF (with an adapter of course)
I'm dead waiting for 3rd party full frame mirrorless lenses for Canon
As a longtime Canon user who is solidly in the mirrorless sphere and having switched all my lenses from EF to RF versions, I would still have no qualms with picking up an EF lens if I found a good deal. Lenses that I wouldn't use often, but wish I had available, such as super-tele L lenses are too expensive to warrant purchasing new, but their EF versions are going for great prices in the used market, and it would make sense to grab one.
The reason why everyone's renting the RF Canon lenses is because they're so dang expensive. You don't see people renting Sigma E Mount lenses because For the price of renting a few times you can just buy one.
Not a surprise. Sony users can buy all the third party lenses they want if they can't afford a g-master, but cannon hostages only choice is to visit a rental.
Canon makes those EF lenses last for decade.
Canon shooter here. I would love to see Sigma or Canon come out with the Ultimate Sports lens, which would be a 120 or 100-400mm f/ 2.8. What are your thoughts on that?
โ4K 120FPS โ1080p 240FPS โ Internal ProRes/RAW โCheap lenses โ Crop guides
The question that I have is how many people are actually still using their DSLR's. Those cameras are still good and produce professional results.
Canon imo is probably the go to brand for non photographers who may end up renting gear. They're the most ergonomically attractive of the popular brands, and we've all used the brand at one point
I wanted to drop by and say Hi. It had been a long time since I came to this channel, possibly over 10 years ago. The first video I found of you was about the Canon 60D. Glad to see you keep actively posting. Thank you for everything.
Welcome back Jared๐
Welcome back, looking forward to seeing some photos from the safari.
