Rodriguez is brilliant. Hearing him break down that jumping scene was awesome.
What a great interview Lex!!!! This is the most expression I’ve seen out of you in all the videos I have watched with you. I love it.
Robert is probably a producer and investor dream. He seems to know how to manage resources with his level of creativity
This is especially interesting because it directly contradicts Quentin's famous telling of Terry Gilliam's advice to him which was, "As a director, it's not your job to know the various skillsets of a film crew, it's your job to have a vision and be able to convey it to a group of talented craftsmen that you've compiled."
He has a way of talking about his accomplishments without bragging.
Jesus that gun cocking sound he made with his mouth sounds realistic 😂
This podcast is so great. Lex is capturing all of the genius of Robert Rodriguez, that people didn't truly appreciate before. Robert and Quentin Tarantino have been friends for over 30 years. Robert directed the Jimmy scenes in "Pulp Fiction", but didn't want to be credited for it. As an actor, I've been so lucky in working with both Robert and Quentin. The fun and AMAZEMENT in doing this, is how they both direct you. And you watching them make their magic behind the scenes. All of the cool stuff you only see, by being on set, watching them do what they do best. Robert is so smart in knowing how to do SO much of what goes into making a movie. He doesn't have to sit around and wait on or rely on other people, to do what he already does so well. As great as Robert is, I feel this podcast is truly showing all about Robert that needs to be appreciated and admired, that people didn't know before. Also, inspire folks to get out there and try to make their own movies, learning by the "Robert Rodriguez Method".
“Good angle” Robert is so good, Lex thinks he is a director now!
You should split the video in two, Lex. The second part (07:30 onwards) about filming a cool action scene in just 20 minutes deserves its own video and might go viral. Just my 2c.
I was staying in austin at the time. I knew nothing about machete being in production. It was like 3pm, 110 degrees out. I was walking around the capitol area and stumbled onto the set, no one was there. Just all the gear. I have a picture of myself with the taco de luz truck, its one of my favorite pictures.
Rodriguez is a creative Genius. " The editor is in a room somewhere."
What an awesome episode
This is how I think about the process, be resourceful, be economic, push the envelope, develop instincts to create results in the moment when it's crunch time
Robert Rodriguez is a genius.
This was kick ass! What show was that scene breakdown from? That looks great & I would like to see it.
This is some great stuff here!
Interesantísima y divertida entrevista con este maravilloso artista! Saludos desde México!
