@sdb584

As someone who has been around long enough to remember working before smart phones, his tip about putting the phone away is probably the most important takeaway. Every time you context switch is a killer for learning or accomplishing anything.

@burakwise

Thanks! Your content is precious to me and aspiring SWEs, and it's of highest quality!

@Coufu

That rubber duck segment 😂 +100% on not taking things too seriously. Some of the best seniors I've worked with are super lax and fun to hang out with but also know when to turn on the serious switch when the time calls for it. Not taking things too seriously is also a great sign that someone is super comfortable operating at their job level.

@spikeydude114

I really like your videos. They're not a 20 minute marathon that I'll forget. They're thoughtful and concise messages. Really dense with useful information! Thank you

@doomlord271

imo i think the most valuable videos on this channel are the ones that only a principal engineer can deliver insights on. while topics like breaking into tech or learning how to code are interesting, there are multiple other channels that can do this. aspects that i think would be more relevant are handling complex situations or growing career to senior/staff level which very few people can talk about or clearly

@RichardThienDuong

I really needed this , I've been contemplating doing 4 years of my life for a degree because I've talked to a couple of people at amazon encouraging it but I really don't want to spend the next 4 years if I've already been going self taught for 2 years now, seeing you as an example getting to L7 with no degree is so relieving to hear for me you have no idea. I know self-taught isn't for everyone but I think for me I have better chances and continuing self-study for that amazon job. I'm currently in a CSR job at amazon and trying to convert to a programming at amazon. Wish me luck guys !

@willg2834

I don’t think I want to be a programmer. I tried once before and it didn’t click for me the way I wanted. I watched this video because I like and appreciate this channel. All that being said, this is an absolutely amazing video and I would point anyone who is thinking of a coding career here. You delivered A+ information in an A+ manner. Thank you

@gajuki

Thank you so much man!!! I today I received my 5th decline email, this made me feel better. I will continue the grind.

@jhonmanahan524

As a college student, I was doing the bare minimum and never coded outside of my assignments. I was coping with my phone, endlessly consuming video game queues and social shorts impulsively, and at that point in time, I thought I wasn't fit for being a programmer at all. On the contrary, I can vouch for removing ANY source of technological disruption for the sake of your focus. It's really a matter of how you use your attention in real time, and as of now, I've finally completed personal projects due to removing one stimulus, my phone.

@Luke-Barrett

haha loved the reference to "Everybody's Free" Song by Baz Luhrmann when you said If I could offer you only one tip for the future wear sunscreen.

@junkyardmonkie

The jokes and delivery make this video so great.

@tiffanyyang5100

Thank you for this inspiring and genuine sharing on your journey! I found your channel when I got laid off the first day, and has kept myself going and gained reassurance from your videos along the way. Thank you again for sharing your invaluable experiences and perspectives, it very much lightened up many people's paths including mine :)

@6fishoutofwater

@ampersignia

This channel is like the best of advice on Blind but without the BS. Thanks.

@ppanagos1

Thanks for the sunscreen tip- Cheers to Mary Schmich.

@aakarshan4644

holy shit, this is the best video on learning coding.

@MaskedEngineerYH

I don’t know why. But the inspiring background music makes it
Legit!

@Ezra_Seth

You should do a video on why you wanted to code. I think it would help a lot of young people get interested in the topic.
