24-48 hrs before making that speech PM Mark Carney would have flown to Vancouver to pay respects to the victims of the Lapu-Lapu Festival tragedy that happened this past weekend. I can't imagine making a hype speech after attending the vigil, meeting with survivors and everyone impacted by this traumatic event. Our hearts are with the Filipino community and everyone impacted by this tragedy.

Mark Carney may not have drifted into the limelight on a wave of boyish charisma the way Justin Trudeau did. But he carries an air of quiet statesmanship that is refreshing. He is a very smart man, and, I'm told, quite likeable and straightforward. He's NOT a politician, but rather a steadfastly competent government official who has taken on the politician role because it's what his country needs right now. THAT deserves a nod of respect, and maybe the rest of the bits of the world struggling with far-right wing-nuts could perhaps take note.....

First time I saw Mark Carney speak was on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He was intelligent, confident, charming and had great comic timing, easily keeping up with Jon Stewart. Knew I'd vote for him then. Everything he's done since just reinforced my first impression. Trump is no match for our new Prime Minister! Elbows Up Canada!
