The Sikh solider in the front middle was my great grandfather. His name was Bishan Singh Dhaliwal and was a lieutenant colonel in the British army and had 50,000 Sikh troops under his command. He fought in the french trenches and in Basra, Iraq against the Germans during world war 1 and also participated in The Burma conflict during ww2.

Edit: He survived all those conflicts and for his service was awarded 200 acres of land from the British. He then built a school for children but lost it all during the partition in 1947. The school he built however is still active today in Pakistan.

Can you imagine fighting wars at 10 years old then becoming a warlord by the age of 17 then a king at 20. Maharaja Ranjit Singh was amazing.

@moebigsley1976

From Canada.

Middle aged black Canadian born and raised, Sikhs in my entire life have never given me any grief or problems, they have been friendly and given me respect.

A very descent people.

@OutnBacker

Never met a Sihk I didn't like. Very civil people who feed others freely in large numbers, no questions asked. Anyone ignorant enough to trouble a Sihk in my presence will find out that I have his back.

@technophiliac2282

I am from the Philippines and I really respect the Sikhs.

@quiasnoorzad

Wow so Sikhs were basically the first NATO army, they had French, British, Americans, Russian, Poland and other European mercenaries in their army! Pretty interesting

@JI7NKJ

Sikhs are the most civil of people and the most generous, I'm not a religious person but of all the worlds religions Sikhism holds a place in my heart.

@jamesacooke32

As a white English man and pretty well versed in most religions if I could pick one religion to be born into it’d be Sikhism. Sikhs are intelligent, noble, hard working and they don’t suffer fools gladly. In the U.K (where I live) they are no trouble whatsoever and fiercely proud of their country, that is, the U.K.

@bikkichettri5554

@shaunking3978

21 Sikhs fought and died in a Battle of Saragarhi in 36 sikh regiment for British Empire, against 10000 + Afghans . They killed hundreds and also helped British army reinforcements to seize back the power on same day . It is considered one of the greatest "Last Stands" of all time .

@the_truth_seeker334

Sikhism is one of the great religion India has produced. We're still protected by Sikhs who're serving in the military. We civilians can really relax because we know the courage and warriorship of Sikhs. Thanks to my mother India for giving us such siblings.

@sonofode902

Singh = Lion
Singa (Indonesian language) = Lion

@karenquinny6069

@eojgnoix

I respect the Sikh culture. Especially the men, no matter where they go. They get treated unkindly, but they dont give a shit and will still supply the community with a decent liquor store.
