7:00 If you slide the big friendly button at the top of the extension app , you can turn them off and enjoy vanilla Gnome. No need to install a different distro
I love the BSOD shirt, Jay!
i think its the best release so far . good alternative to windows . runs on old computer hardware .even a 15 year old one .notebook or desktop runs perfect on my hp 2000 laptop amd 2 processor
Your pdf has a typo: "Why Swit(c)h to LInux" (missing 'c' in the world switch).
It's good. I'm tempted to upgrade from 24.04, but as interim release 25.04 will have very limited support in general. So I will wait for next LTS release. And things will get interesting with 25.10 release.
And this why I pay for internet. Thank you so much Jay, amazing content as always
It was definitely a good week for Linux!
Don't see the problem with snap. My experience is, that - snap is not slower than flatpak (that's a thing that was resolved at least a year ago), - work much better with development tools than flatpaks. Apparently they make it easier for Canonical to maintain several distros at the same time.
Didn’t you say that you switched to Debian stable and can’t recommend fedora anymore?
Snap packages won't be phased out any time soon, because they do some things that flatpaks don't, such as the ability to package CLI applications and even drivers, the latter still being experimental.
I like the apps icons in Ubuntu’s latest release compared with Fedora 42. Looks more polished and professional.
Do you work in a music studio, or is that gear yours?
Yes Jay, I do enjoy Ubuntu 25.04, I've noticed Steam Flatpak did got issues compared to Snap version, APT version and DEB version, so for Steam Snap, well since the update back in August 2024, it had fixed a lot of compatibility issues and futher, Linux Native games based on Appimage like Super Tux on Steam is now playable on Steam Snap with no more hoops to jump through like on DEB ver and APT ver. So I've smacked a like button and I'm still subscribed to your channel. ☺
Just updated to the new fedora. No issues.
I wish that I could say the same. I tried to install it, it broke my old version. Now I can't get back everything working. My old current version of Ubuntu is touchy af. Errors left and right. My system is Epyc 9654 with 128 g of ram.
I was going to test ubuntu but failed to install, as it would crash after start of the actual install. Not a huge deal, may try again and look into it further since its a laptop for pure testing. But I agree I am a fan of fedora and have 42 installed on two devices and working nicely. Although I do add some extensions like app indicators since that to me is just nice to have easily visible in a common area.
Installed 25.04 when the beta came out. Flawless and still on it. Very impressed.
Glad I caught this. Thanks for sharing, Jay.
Thanks Jay.
