I was taught this 3 day retreat as a spiritual practice in the 70ās. No mirrors, no reading materials, etc. for 3 days and 3 nights. The idea was to cease the mental chatter. My experience of this having done it numerous times, is insights often come when you get this quiet. I donāt know that my mind ever went VOID, but doing this often led to major changes for me.
This is my dopamine rush! Watching health and wellness videos are what I do excessively. That would definitely be a challenge!š«
I started fasting as a lifestyle thanks to Dr. Mindiās teachings. Iām not only lost weight, but I changed the micro biome in my body to wear. I donāt even crave sugar anymore. I can look at the stuff and not even desire it. fasting also changes your taste buds so you donāt crave the bad foods. Itās worth it.
Thanks to seeing one of your videos, I started fasting 3 1/2 months ago. I have lost 27 pounds and brought down my A1C. The pain in my feet is gone! I monitor my blood sugar now and know exactly what affects it negatively and I have brought my average down to 93 from 118. Love your books. You should be every Dr.
I wanted to share my experience of doing this dopamine detox. I only allowed myself to read my physical book or do my craft activity, which was cross stitch. I had no radio on in the car and didnāt turn on the tv, my phone was not used outside of work hours. I filled my mornings with meditation and writing in my journal. My sleep has improved, with no devices in the evening and time to switch off my brain, I was sleepy earlier in the evenings. I realised I used to stack things together, like cross stitch while watching tv. The first time I watched a YouTube video after the detox I realised I was actually watching it, taking it all in unlike before. I also limited it, I didnāt want to watch endless videos because I enjoy my quiet gadget free evenings. With food, I find my craving for the junk food is super low! I promised myself a small treat when I finished this detox, and I didnāt even want it when it came time to having it! I think I will definitely do this again, itās been insightful.

I just did about a 40 hour fast after putting myself into keto for a few days. Iām staying in Keto for now and am feeling really good, high energy and able to workout pretty well. Some headaches, but Iām pretty sure thatās normal. I went to a kava bar yesterday and it was great! I slept like the dead last night.
I can't imagine 24 hrs without internet and a day without coffee .Probably the best dopamine detox could be contact with nature and change place of living for a few days ..
Dr. Mindy (which is how I refer to you with fam/friends š) I am very thankful for you. I got serious Jan 2024. (Turned 50 in July this year so I needed a turning 50 project.) Read Fast like a Girl and said you are kidding me. I think every diet my whole life has been blown the week before my period. Why didnt someone tell me this. Ive lost 80 pounds, broke my food/sugar addiction, and said good bye to alcohol for the most part. Alcohol just doesnt set well with my body and seems to kill ketones when I checked on my keto mojo. So it wasnt worth it. I didnt realize I felt bad until I broke the 5:00 glass of wine habit. I still drink out of my nice wine glass though...lol I could stop there...but to highlight how huge of an accomplishment this is, my job is basically to wine and dine people. š³ Yes, I took some people out to lunch while fasting...told them I was the entertainment and shared what I was doing. All were supportive and it gave me some accountability for people to know I was trying. I think 2025 im going to work on stretching, strength training a little, and maintaining weight for a little while. Then maybe loose 20 more pounds. Long post but I just wanted to share for anyone thinking about 2025, is this real, and can it be done. Yes it can, and this is from a life long over weight hypothyroid 50 yr old female. - Beth

Social media was doing this to me. When I noticed it I dropped all my socials. Now I dont check my phone any more!
