for the longest time we basically only had 1 arcane slot on our frames, the other was energize.

Atlas was a frame I was pretty excited for with the pseudo-Exalted changes even though I let mine collect dust. I never really had a desire to use him prior—but now… he stands well on his own, which is great since he needed a specifically-modded melee as a crutch, as with all frames that needed a stat stick

Good video! Since he didn't mention it: Titanic Rumble is also a really cool option if you have an extra mod slot. With his build it essentially gives you 40 meter Rhino Stomp you can use every 6 seconds, outstanding for more defensive game modes that don't require constant slaughter like Interception, Mobile Defense, etc.  

Also: Your comments on Melee Influence are spot-on. I was elated when it dropped at how many new weapons became viable because of it. People really don't realize how big of a deal it was. For like at least 2-3 years the only melee weapons that were really effective were slash-weighted high crit and status weapons that all built the same exact build.

I mean, Influence is prevalent because it's the only way that melee weapons not named "Nami Solo Incarnon" or "Exalted" can actually effectively hit crowds. The addition of Followthrough is what did this. Influence is literally just a bandaid over the giant Followthrough-shaped wound that DE put in melee weapons.

I wish they make a influence but other elements, like the heat, cold and toxin, with different gimmick like heat can got a explosion but in a ring like Temple 2nd skill, then cold with a snowflakes like raining that explodes on contact either mobs or in the area it lands, then toxic that make a puddle of toxic the same thing in 1999 tileset, those container that spill and dmg us with corrosive.

they can explore how influence are being adapted by the players and more of that because its fun. just need some variety.

Ngl, im happy to see someone put words to how I feel about influence rn. I deadass didn’t realize melee duplicate only worked on base crits till recently and I’m hoping they buff it to working on all crits too.

Very true about melee influence. If influence dissapears, then there exists two types of melees: Glaives, and Praedos (for mobility only, not damage). I understand the sentiment that having the "one build" for a weapon is boring (I HATED the COWBARF meta) but influence really makes melees an actual weapon class.

Minor suggestion on Diriga, since the bond mod adds the statuses to Diriga's abilities without combining them, and they already do Electric damage you can mod the Burst Laser to do Viral Heat instead of Viral Electric

I appreciate the tangent, as I hate seeing all of the "influence is bad" stuff. Unless something is truly broken, I am generally against nerfs. Give us something to consider building around in place of influence, and we will.

Melee Influence's power feels fine, its the dozens of other arcanes that are too weak. Brand new arcanes that compete are nice and all, but a good buff pass across all the numerous existing underused mods and arcanes would be even better.

Influence is evolving the meta to one state, kind of like HM/Viral for Primaries. When I get a new weapon, I look at its stats and I want to build for its strengths. Before the enemy armour cap/element rework, we were really in a place where a Primary without decent crit and slash weighting was effectively useless. 

Since then, we've had a renaissance of build variety, especially with recent additions like cannonade, elementalist, and acuity. But like you said, that's solving through adding to the game rather than subtracting.

It's only recently, because of melee arcanes, that I ever started using a melee playstyle. Since 2017, the only way I ever used melee was as a guaranteed-slash heavy for hard targets, or with glaives.  It was Influence and Valence Lavos that got me to try new things. Now my favorite is infinite blender with Vortex and Tennokai, but that's a niche application.

Edit: Also, if you'd rather play something slower and more focused on the weapon itself: give Soulframe a try.
