Ezra — you are a true gift to humanity through the New York Times and in my mind you should be a model for all NYT reporters in the way you manifest the following: Intellectual curiosity, commitment to growth and learning through an open, critical and rigorous mind, multi- disciplinary and broad-based approach, probing questions, In depth research, critical and respectful approach to other credible positions, respect for the audience, transparency, honesty and trustworthiness. I so wish they could clone your approach in more corners of journalism and academia.
It takes a lifetime to build a good positive stable reputation and 5 minutes to destroy it. --Warren Buffet, paraphrased.
Dealing with Trump is like doing business with a mafia boss. It's smart to stay out of it. BUT, the most disturbing observation is the ignorance and cruelty of the American electorate. THAT is the unforgivable aspect of the American betrayal of its international obligations. Bye-bye, USA.
Republican Congress members to Americans: "Oppose a coming dictatorship? Not gonna do it. I fear Trump. I'm more motivated to preserve my seat in Congress than to preserve democracy."
The makeup company I worked for last year (moved to a better job since) bought most of their components and ingredients from China. They made a makeup product NOT out of plastic, but all our labor was legal immigrants or people needing a manufacturing job due to lack of skills (no insult intended but many people can't afford to go to college) and all out components (parts to the widget) and ingredients (powers, oils, waxes) came from china. Now - they have no way to plan unit costs that they mark up to sell a product, not knowing what additional cost will need to be applied due to tariff costs. Our customers are varied one being direct retail customers but more were large retailers and specialty shops (famous names). That is a solid example. If they go out of business, 200-400 jobs gone, not to mention our Customers labor force impacted.....so this uncertainty is very real.
The tariff plan will evidently lead to high inflation, the high inflation is a significant reason why most retirees have sleepless nights. The increase in prices of everyday items puts them at risk of running out of money. As prices rise, the amount of money retirees can withdraw from their retirement savings also increases
So how exactly can we guard against the coming financial reset for 2025? Like what are really the best strategies to make our portfolio recession proof against the incoming financial reset? I'm very worried about my $160k stock portfolio.
I’m going to say Yes. The sun has set. The problem is that this is hurting the most vulnerable, not millionaires.
America feels like the Titanic—we hit something a while ago, the guardrails of democracy are splintering, and there aren't enough lifeboats for everyone.

Trump should have stuck with his business in selling steaks. Not because he was good at it, but because he is such a meathead
A stunning insightful interview. Rogoff calm assessment needs to be heard and promoted .
Reminds me of the old saying "For every complex problem, there's a simple solution that won't work."
Donald Trump speaks of an alternative reality, i.e., lies, lies, and lies some more.
I hope Ezra will continue to explore the "dollar dominance" topic with a wide array of guests.
I've watched and read a lot of stuff about this current fiasco, but this particular discussion sheds more light upon this issue than I've witnessed anywhere. Bravo to both the presenter and his guest.
Tax the wealth not the worker.
I appreciate Ezra standing up for Bernie Sanders
As Third World citizen, I find it incredible that the "exhoribtant priviledge" is being spinned as a "service" to the countries which resiurces have been sourced cheaply all over the world...
