"...how I was raised, how I was protected...transgenerational."
I love that his grandma was a film nerd too. Inspiring to see him breathe so much life into his family history.
1932 the year my mom was born, I was in awe. She passed away February 2025.🙏🏾
I like this interviewer. You can tell he’s not trying to pick Ryan apart in order to understand his magic. He is genuinely interested in his creativity
Very insightful comment by the interviewer. And Coogler is legitimately a once in a generation filmmaking takent
My Granny was born 1919 in Indionala Mississippi. Grandad was 1915. I kept wandering about what they were like as kids during this movie. My granny passed when I was 15. I should have asked more questions.
Smoke an annie was basically papa an big mamma when they were younger
Such an amazing realization that became a creative choice😢! A genius
Coogler is so smart this film is phenomenal and Michael B Jordan was superb 👏👌
I love ppl watching older ppl and trying to imagine what we’re they like at my age. It’s very fascinating to me because we are so consumed by our own lives and don’t take the time to think that these ppl were doing somethings very close to what we’re doing now. At 30 I’m still very fascinated, and he did an awesome job with that movie. Money well spent! Ima have to buy the dvd or w.e it is nowadays. I haven’t bought a movie in soooo long 😂
My grandma was born in the 30s in Mississippi. Her name is Berline. Needless to say, i was shook
Man Ryan Coogler rules.
They weren’t always these old people… that’s really profound and amazing that he focused on that!
This movie is fire movie of the year🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Going to the movies is such the classic first date. 😁 Maybe since the nickelodeon days a century ago. ❤
My grandmother was born in Alabama but I’d imagine it had to have been the same. Her name is Pearline!
Beautiful. I love seeing Ryan on this tour!
His parents did a good job🎉
My great grandma was born in 1917 in North Carolina in a small town and one of the few black families there. She passed at 99 years old in 2016. I learned sooo much from her.
