Just interview that fly and ask how do they land upside down haiyaaaa
It looks like that one fly bonks his head, but really -- it's crashing into the ceiling eyeball first
Scientist: So tell me how exactly do you choose to land? Fly: ehh depends on how I feel and the situation yk? It amazes me how insects just be doin this stuff by vibes alone and there’s no one size fits all formula.
Damn this is pretty fly for a science guy
So basically, exactly how I would survive in the international space station
This will help build more effective slaughterbots. Yay.
I’m shocked it took so long for us to explore this , or at least for scientist too! Makes you wonder & realize how much we really don’t know still about the world around us.
Love the flight of the bumblebee in the background
So y'all just gonna ignore the fact that they're researching this in order to create fly robots??? That's scary
The flies have cameras in their eyes
The way the fly knocked her head and fell Lol It only needs some dramatic music and the we can call it: "The Downfall of a Fly"
Video: is about flies landing upside down Music: flight of the bumblebee
Apparently studying bugs to see how we can use their knowledge is a big deal for modern science. My old roommate did a thesis studying ant colonies and how they are built and used characteristics of their methods in an algorithm to make building and civil engineering safer. It’s been so long I’ve forgotten all the important details, but it was so weird to hear about. How they studied the ant colonies for years and applied how they built their hills and moved around them to an algorithm that is used in planning sewage systems and park systems. Not exactly what I would’ve chosen for my thesis, but oh well.
Finally the question is answered i had it in my mind since long 😵💫
I guess you could say that the flies just...wing it.
That's pretty cool. I love slow motion shots.
So they're really gonna bring Black Mirror's "Hated in the nation" episode to life.
Teaching our robots complex maneuvers so they can have a definite edge exterminating us all later.
They did this with planes and large birds. You know those triangle things at the ends of plane wings, they are based on the fact that large birds have a similar shape there when flying. I can’t remember the specifics but it creates a vortex of some kind. I think they just mimicked it at first, and saw it worked without totally understanding why.
