Each member of my team is using a different OS and Lando has made local development between us extremely simple.  Plus it almost mirrors our production environment by default which helps ensure we have smooth deployments.  It's based on docker but manages the container and network setup so it might also be a good way for someone to try out docker as well.  Not affiliated, just really enjoy what it does for us and I feel like it's been forever since I've heard it mentioned in any Laravel videos.

I used to use lots of different IDE’s depending on the task/language. But I have found out using VScode framework you dont need IDE’s no more its just more complicated and fills so much more on you pc. 
Example: 
I used to use blockcode for c++ and C but I never liked the look of it and haded How hard it was to setup with its GCC compiler. 
VScode was easy install 2 plugins. Done

For js in the backend you can still use browser debugger if ur runtime supports it, buildin webstorm debugger os also fine ig
