@connorburton1009

She picked up on it a bit towards the end, but almost every location you visit in the map has the same layout as my house.

@randomlyproductions0_0

Thing is, this game breaks the physics of the the older Doom games, because they weren’t able to put rooms on top of one another, and impossible rooms

@BiggieSwagz

Fun facts about this .wad:

1994’s DooM2 Technology doesn’t allow for there to be rooms above rooms, even with other programs like GZDooM, it does not change the programming of the base game, meaning that the entire downstairs sector of the house, should not be digitally possible.

The 2 Rooms that spawn in the main area, with the fireplace lounge room and more modernized second living room, overlay the master bedroom and bathroom, seemingly phasing through the walls, which is also not possible not only in Doom’s programming, but in the basic functions of reality.

There is a crashed car in the night time forest area of the map, playing a song that has been a mystery on the internet for years, as there is no producer, singer or song name that can be tracked, giving the otherworldly feeling.

Enabling the NoClip Cheat will allow you to pass into the Backrooms (this is real.)

The entire game is based off of a love story. (In theory.)

The .wad is 64MB, which is more than Doom 1 and 2 combined.

The dog’s entity name is BestBuddy, so I hope that makes you feel better, you monster.

@Ariamaki

I've watched like six or seven 100% runs of MyHouse and this is the very first one I've seen that entered the "Bath-rooms" section by trying to go back upstairs from the flooded basement. I had NO clue that was a linedef trigger in this map. There's always just a little bit more under the surface: Very fun run! :D

@zombeef3074

Altrive is just a chat gremlin here, which is very on brand for him honestly

@sampletext5959

Some neat little things I’ve learned about MyHouse.WAD from other channels:

Doom’s physics engine doesn’t like buildings with multiple stories, so there’s some serious behind-the-scenes sorcery that allows the WAD to run in the first place.

This is a small detail, but the default weapon animations are replaced with community reanimations (first seen at 3:59), adding to the overall uncanny feeling of the WAD.

The song that plays at 22:17 is called “Subways of Your Mind” by FEX. People on the internet were searching for the name and creators of the song for 17 years. As of November 5, 2024, the search is finally over! It was informally dubbed "The Most Mysterious Song on the Internet" until the discovery.

@metronicmagician1816

I’ll add to this that there’s text files in the mod folder that basically give My house a whole extra story that ties into all the scenes and set pieces. The story is basically a tragic gay love story where one (or both it’s unclear) of the lovers died and this is his final work of passion for his lover with the moral of “if you want happiness you have to fight for it.” This is kind of shown with the fake real ending having nothing you need to overcome, but only one of the lovers is in the sand while the true real ending has the whole army of hell after you, but you get S+A in the sand. It’s also heavily inspired by liminal spaces (obviously), and even pulls from a very trippy book called House Of Leaves, and there’s a hidden room in the House itself that is heavily inspired by it.

@killerexe007

I love how to people that know doom the shadow Arch-vile sound causes a panic attack, but people that have no idea are just like "Oh, somebody appeared"

@SuperLlama42

The fun part of this version of Underhalls, aside from what you discovered, is that you can exit the map in the mirror world, and you get brought to a mirrored version called sllahrednU

@Exquisite_Crap

Yknow I’ve seen people:

-avoid the big dog

-kill the big dog only to realize it killed the little dog

-Get pressured by chat to not kill big dog

I’ve never seen someone make the connection and their first thought become Kill puppy to Kill big dog

@Cleric_Guardian

The thing I love about this WAD is that every person I watch play it shows me something new I hadn't seen before. I didn't know the hospital bit existed. And I've found things I haven't seen others find.

@OrinyxRyder

Giwi: is being philosophical and deep while asking about the true meaning of the mod

Also Giwi: "that's none of my business. I'm on a beach with a motherfuckin dog."

@omoriperocondrip9130

Fun fact: You can find the strongest weapon in the game in the bloody bathrooms, if you move in a way that leaves blood everywhere except for the entrance, you can find a BFG 9000.
Also, there's an easter egg if you go through the fence after you burn the house. And there are weird messages if you use god mode and noclip, SPECIALLY THE LATTER.

@QueenReploid

I was so blown away playing this map, I'm so glad you had such a good time with it!

@RealmDragolord_X

17:09 i mean I think the answer to solving that issue is quite simple. Chainsaw. Case in point. Just bring a chainsaw into every pool you go to, and if you feel a nibble, slam down on whatever’s there with an active chainsaw

@grimgrahamch.4157

It's interesting that you got the hospital scene so early, amd likewise got to see the new door animations early. It's a shining example of why this game has less of an impact to people who've never played DOOM 1 & 2 before. There is so much subtle nuance to the first half of the game that only experienced DOOM players would find out of place. I'm glad my first experience with it was by watching Power Pak. He does such a good job if breaking it down and adding context to the uninitiated.

@FullCircleStories

The premise of home ownership is the most fictional part of this map

@CyberKnightMiky

Doom is literally 30 years old from now on, yet there's still mods for the old games and gives us impressive stuff.

It's truly great to see you play this mod, especially a Doom 2 mod

@SoxOPhone

I still can’t believe this is a DOOM MOD. Like how is half this trickery even possible in tye doom engine. It blows my mind

@Saxdude26

20:28 CONEMAN DOOT!
Oh Giwi, this highlight reel of your blind reactions was delightful!
