I'm 1 hour into this & I notice an underlying theme: a large percentage of the scientists involved are foreign/foreign-born. That has always been the US's strength in innovation -- the ability to attract some of the best minds in world.
Something that all this research and media overlooks when comparing AI and robotics to humans is how much humans can do with each joule of energy. With just an exponential fraction of energy that electronics use, we humans can move, grow, store data, compute, reproduce, convert organic matter into energy, and even do all this while eliminating a constant flow of excess cells. How much energy is being used by these synthetic systems trying to replicate our capabilities. The amount of work per unit of energy that humans can do is astounding - an adult human is operating on just around 110 watts on average!
Thank you 60 minutes for investigating/showing this.
Great program! Thank you Scott Pelley and 60 Minutes!
This is mind blowing. I don't think we fully understand how pivotal this is for humanity.
You are really spoiling us today 60 Minutes
The "Future Technology | 60 Minutes Marathon" episode brilliantly highlights the urgent need for technological innovation in our rapidly changing world.
I think it's important to stick to stocks that are immune to economic policies. I'm looking at NVIDIA and other AI stocks that have the potential to power and transform future technologies. It seems AI is the trajectory most companies are taking, including even established FAANG companies
Speechless and scared to death all at the same time is my result from learning a little more today about AU. Thank you 60 Minutes for the great program. Exciting, yet I am frightened to death for our future. May AI and humanity exist along side each other only in a good way, yet I see a big loss in so many entities.
Honestly, 60 minutes your the best "Mainstream" media company that does some down to the nitty gritty reporting. THANK YOU!!!
Not cause it's boring but it's literally two of my favorite humans that I don't know having a real conversation. Thank you guys, it's my 50th time or so listening to this and it's still amazing
60 minutes knows I have no life and releases these on holiday weekends.
This is amazing! So much information. It is eye opening.
Thank you for telling us what the weaknesses are in the quantum computer hardware.
I enjoyed this 60 minutes episode 4.75 times
Finland’s first quantum computer 'Lumi' is 20-qubit quantum computer and opened for companies to resource it in 2023 and we will scale to a 50-qubit quantum computer by the end of 2024.
Loving the marathon. I don't think people are taking AI serious enough.
"These stories highlight the incredible innovations shaping our future—quantum computing solving the unsolvable, AI transforming industries, and groundbreaking clean energy advancements like nuclear fusion and Lithium Valley. They also underscore the pressing need for sustainable practices, from solar energy in the Bahamas to carbon capture and offshore wind farms. Pushing the boundaries of possibility with eVTOLs, 3D-printed infrastructure on the moon, and artificial prosthetics, this is the kind of forward-thinking innovation that defines progress. Yet, amidst all this, there’s also a deep appreciation for preserving history, like the Holocaust stories, ensuring we don’t lose sight of our humanity. Truly inspiring work!"
This is so fascinating informative amazing shocking incredible and much more! TY 60 minutes!
