30.5L Radial 12 Aero Engine - AngeTheGreat's Engine Simulator
One of my viewers commented on me turning my old Radial 12 into an aero engine. I thought that was a great idea, so I spent the past hour making this, and I think its pretty good. I had to change a lot of stuff, delete the VTEC and basically redo the back-end variables since I refused to use Labels back then so now its streamlined to make changes to and I fixed the spark timing. As it turns out, the timing of the rear half of the engine was quite late, and by the time I realized it I had already changed so much of the engine. It was making about 600 horsepower at the time, I hadn't bumped it up to a more aero-spec level, but just by advancing the timing by about 40% of a cycle length I had reached over 870 horsepower, and all that power was being lost in the original racing-spec Radial 12, both power and fuel efficiency. I reduced the burning efficiency from the unrealistically high levels of before to something more reasonable for high-octane AvGas, and reduced the unrealistic flow attenuation values for the head to something more reasonable and closer to Ange's default levels. Now it makes over 1100 horsepower and over 2300 pound-feet of torque, and the chassis stuff was modified to be what I think the airspeed behind the prop would be, peaking at about 300 mph in static thrust conditions, as in flight there would be less resistance to turning the propeller and thus the engine would reach redline if you went at full throttle, its why propeller planes usually fly at between 55% to 75% of the engine's full power output, any higher and the engine would suffer from overspeed.
