[7] A Battle Through Time (Finale) - Sonic Generations 2024 - SXSG Switch

1 0________

And so the adventures of Sonic and Shadow converge in the final confrontation with Eggman, who had been controlling the monster in his (not anymore) newest scheme that might have the worst consequences of all time should Sonic fall here.

The fight...was not fixed. Anyone that's played the original Generations knows that this was the worst final boss of the main Sonic installments of the 2010s. What's wrong with it? Well...

[1]: The game won't shut up about pointing out every little thing that happens in the fight

[2]: Trying to pursue Time Eater is a nightmare because the progress will randomly reset while switching dimensions.

[3]: You're basically forced to have that boost button taped down if you want a LICK of a chance of catching up

[4]: Getting rings is practically a dice roll on 3D, so you're likely going to be spending most of the fight on 2D to make sure you have a massive surplus. This compounds with [2], making the fight more tedious than it already is

[5]: The method of damaging Time Eater is that after you catch up, you lock onto the weak point and then charge at it. Problem is that this was not programmed well, and the attack SOMETIMES works, and when it doesn't, you're basically shoved back have to do this long and tedious chase all over again just to have another chance at dealing damage, and this doesn't mention all of the other points. So expect a very long clear time, like mine.

So overall thoughts on SXSG itself? I'd give it an 8.3/10. Sonic Generations did not age well, but was still fun in its own right, while Shadow Generations was very fantastic. I really hope the success of SXSG, mostly Shadow Generations, means this new hopeful era continues.
