Let's Make a Chain of Words 2, Segmented Phonics Open-ended Version by Jack Hartmann is a phonemic awareness activity. Jack starts with a word, and then changes one phoneme to create another word. In this chain of words. Jack segments and then blends the words each time he changes the phoneme in the chain. Jack starts with a word and then changes the initial consonant, then the medial sound, the next time he changes the ending sound and lastly, he changes the initial sound again all to create a Chain of Words. Look for our other Chain of Words videos that are not segmented for more of a challenge to this skill. In this open version students are asked to segment each word independently.
