Wasn't planning on a storm chase with rather miserable rainy weather across Sydney, but it seems my timing for a late lunch break this afternoon worked out.

The Sydney radar was offline so you are effectively flying blind, but you can sometimes sense when there is shear in the atmosphere.

I headed for the coastline and moments after leaving home I could see a funnel in the distance.

A very weak waterspout that was partially condensed formed off the coast of Dover Heights at 1.51pm today.a
