116 medical students at UC Davis School of Medicine -- and tens of thousands from across the country — celebrated "Match Day" as they simultaneously learned where they’ll attend residency training after graduation this spring. From this class, 82% will stay in California, two thirds are going into primary care residencies and all 116 eligible students matched.

Residency is an intensive training program that lasts anywhere from three to seven years, depending on the medical specialty. It’s a necessary step on the path to becoming a board-certified physician and Match Day is an unforgettable part of the long journey.
