Andy MacIsaac, Director, Industry Solutions, Public Sector at Alteryx says IT modernization should be looked at like digital transformation. And in that case, you look at digital transformation as evolving the convergence of people, process and technology. All three of those parts are equally important. From an analytics perspective, it’s how to infuse data into that overall transformation process.

He cites an example of an analyst who's doing geospatial analysis to look at how services are available for people who are suffering substance abuse disorders. By informing that insight, he can take his analytics to policymakers so they can make better decisions. That drives better collaboration with state government, with care providers and also with federal government. But really, it improves the availability of health services to infected populations.

He thinks the biggest risk is putting too much emphasis on the technology and not really focusing on people. One of the things that Alteryx does is try to upskill users in how to use data analytics on a self-service analytics platform. In this way, he shares, it important to not focus only on the technology, rather on the people, the process and the technology equally.
