Reset the Firestick Remote
Quick Reset:

Remove the batteries from the Firestick remote.

Wait 30 seconds, then test the remote by pressing buttons.
Set Up Fire TV App:

Download the Amazon Fire TV app (iOS/Android) on your phone.
