I used two beer bottle caps to screw wood screws into a stripped out hollow door.

This was for a door knob latch faceplate.

I first used finish nails to pound a hole in each cap with the logo facing up.

You’ll have to use screws longer than what’s supplied with the knob to reach the caps inside the knob hole. I used #8 screws 2 1/2” long.

The screw will go in the same side of the cap the nail went into. As you tighten, the cap will pull up tight against the screw.

Keep tightening until you feel the cap tighten up against something solid inside the door, and pull your latch faceplate up snug. Don’t over tighten or you’ll strip out the cap. Of course you can always get another one.
