I drifted south this winter to the Patagonian summer. Most of the trip was spent on the Caraterra Austral, Chile's Southern Highway, but there was a brief dogleg into empty Argentina. You better gas up your car if you're going to drive these roads.

In El Chalten, the focus is Mount FitzRoy, named after the Beagle's captain. Your legs will be interrogated heavily about their loyalty to you and their willingness to continue, but, like all good things worked for, the payoff is immense.
