Arun Kumar, who goes by the mononym Atlee, is a prominent Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer, particularly renowned for his contributions to the Tamil film industry. His journey in the film world began as an assistant director under the guidance of S. Shankar, where he played a role in the making of notable films like "Enthiran" (2010) and "Nanban" (2012).

Atlee marked his directorial debut with "Raja Rani" (2013), a film produced by Fox Star Studios. This debut venture earned him recognition, with accolades such as the Best Debut Director award at the Vijay Awards and the Tamil Nadu State award for best dialogue writer.

Following his successful debut, Atlee went on to helm a series of blockbuster films, including "Theri" (2016), "Mersal" (2017), and "Bigil" (2019), all of which starred the popular actor Vijay.
