The Law of Consecration was revealed to Joseph Smith in Kirtland, Ohio, in February 1831.
Edward Partridge was appointed the first bishop to administer the law, tasked with receiving consecrated property and allocating stewardships.

Initially, Church members were asked to voluntarily deed or consecrate their property to the Church.
The Church would then assign stewardships of property to members, ensuring they had enough for their families' needs.

Any remaining property would be kept for the benefit of those in need. The United Order was established in 1832 as a way to help manage the law, but it faced challenges and was not fully implemented due to disagreements and conflicts.

With the challenges of the past, a single question remains. Are Latter-day Saints still required to live the Law of Consecration today? Find out how the Law of Consecration is in full effect today and helping people around the world with a variety of welfare needs.

This episode covers events from Doctrine and Covenants 42 and features Scripture Central special guest Stephen Jones.
