Jump onto the rock cycle and learn about the 3 types of rocks with this song. Find out the differences between sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks and how they are formed. There are lots of examples of each type shown in the video.
Lyrics:
I was walking along the beach
Collecting pebbles by my feet
So polished and so neat
Where do they come from?
Rocks are made of minerals
Often several kinds
Rocks make up the Earth’s crust
This is their story
Ig -ne – ous rocks
Sed – i – men – ta- ry
Met - a – mor- phic
3 kinds of rocks
Magma underground
Lava on the land
Burning rivers of fire
Cool and solidify
Igneous rocks produced
Building, is granite's use
Pumice in your bathroom
For use on your feet
Rocks are broken down
By the wind, the water and rain
Erosion and weathering happen
Again and again
Sediments build up
Compacting all the time
Finally, you get
Sedimentary rocks
Pressure and heat combine
Deep down underground
Rocks get changed in kind
They metamorphosise
Limestone changes to marble
Sandstone to quartzite
Rocks change back to magma
When conditions are right
